Our Technical Finance Reporting Team is an integral part of Core FP&A, providing key insights that help Microsoft make better financial and business decisions.

We are at the hub of Microsoft’s financial activities, being a key strategic partner to all sides of the business and serving a diverse set of stakeholders: Board of Directors, Wall Street analysts and shareholders, the Senior Leadership Team (CEO, CFO, and Executive VPs), executive staff (Corporate VPs), finance leadership (CFOs and controllers), and functional teams across the company (Corporate Strategy and central teams).

The Technical Finance Reporting Director oversees financial reporting and forecasting for Treasury related activities. This person will manage a team that has accountability for GAAP based reporting related to receivables, including AFDA, as well as forecasting responsibilities related to financing and treasury operations.

Responsibilities Partnership: Understands the interconnections between data, information, and results and translates this into forward-looking narratives and forecasts. Provides clarity and alignment with senior leaders. Implements creative ways to show patterns and draw conclusions to help drive decisions and clearly communicate findings.

Generates actionable plans based on complex results, ambiguous findings, and multi-year time horizons. Coaches team to translate data into a simplified and engaging message with actionable insights. Facilitates a shared understanding and awareness of business partner situations.

Drives culture, inspires, and prioritizes team to pursue innovation. Applies advanced understanding of Microsoft business, industry, and drivers of shareholder return to ensure senior leaders are presented with the most relevant data, insights, risks, and recommendations necessary to support strategy execution.

Leverages business expertise to attract and inspire talent and help others reach their full potential. Evaluates and recommends potential impacts of changes to business models. Partners across boundaries to remediate and resolve complex issues.

Leads annual planning and forecasting processes. Reviews, analyzes, and prepares recommendations for preliminary and adjusted forecast cycles. Partners and solicits insight from senior business stakeholders. Proactively partners with the business to take necessary corrective action as needed.

Conceptualizes and designs new approaches and metrics to how relevant financial data is collected and evaluated to impact the broader organization and Microsoft's long-term goals. Acts as subject matter expert for data management and operations.

Provides direction and actionable insights on the state of the business to key stakeholders to drive the business forward. Orchestrates the accurate and timely rhythm of business reporting including key performance indicators (KPIs), monthly close, and budgeting.

Collaborates and empowers others to ensure execution of plans and accountability for results. Protect: Orchestrates comprehensive system of accounting policies, procedures and controls that span financial, non-financial disclosures, and accounting operations.

Maintains accountability for internal control process and procedures regarding accounting and business continuity. Ensures proper financial and accounting infrastructure to maintain reporting requirements. Drives the right tone from executive leadership and ensures strict adherence and understanding of Microsoft policies on risk and compliance.

Influences leadership to ensure compliance is a top priority and modeled throughout the organization. Directs team and holds others accountable to ensure financial control processes, policies, instruments, and procedures are executed. Guides team and encourages others to identify and share risks to compliance and take steps to mitigate.

Drives a compliant culture through actions and decisions to instill trust. Advocates, educates, and promotes best practices and new developments. Champions financial compliance standards, Microsoft privacy, security, and ethical standards. Advances key compliance initiatives.

Where appropriate, anticipates and mitigates emerging statutory, tax, regulatory, and fiduciary risks. Partners with other support areas (Tax, Internal Audit) to drive compliance and controllership agenda. Qualifications Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 8+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 10+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR equivalent experience. 1+ year(s) experience managing direct reports or equivalent experience Financial Analysis M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $277,200 per year.

There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $303,600 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
