Data privacy has become increasingly important in recent years. As governments around the world introduce new privacy laws, companies are investing more in compliance to meet evolving requirements. This shift creates opportunities to build solutions that help organizations address regulations and strengthen customer trust.
The Microsoft Security Trust Platform’s Data Governance and Privacy team helps Microsoft meet its data privacy and governance regulatory obligations. The team builds distributed systems for scanning, cataloging, classification, and DSR processing, and maintains privacy infrastructure that surfaces compliance insights and recommends improvements.
It also develops new data privacy products for Microsoft and its customers. As privacy requirements continue to evolve, this role offers the chance to work on initiatives with broad scale, impact, and visibility.We are looking for a Principal Product Manager to join our team.

Responsibilities Partner with customers, partners, and stakeholders to understand data privacy and governance needs across business areas, and develop, execute, and track roadmaps to meet those needs.
Assist, provide subject matter expertise and lead technical and compliance discussions to prioritize, define, and validate data privacy features. Drive companywide compliance initiatives and KPIs. Define and communicate privacy requirements, designs, and guidance.
Collaborate with teams across Microsoft to identify trends and meet data privacy requirements as One Microsoft. Manage existing privacy tools and services, and support customer and partner needs and issues. Embody our Culture and Values Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
Preferred Qualifications
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills Proven track record of: Effective ownership and bias for action.
- Exposure to large scale data estates and privacy operations environments.
- Ability to communicate, create clarity, navigate ambiguity and communicate with a diverse group of communication styles and roles – customers, partners, engineers and stakeholders.
- Quickly come up to speed on a variety of technologies and using that knowledge to drive product requirements/direction. 8+ years of professional product management or program management or related experience 5+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects #MSFTSecurity Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800.00 - $274,800.00 per year.
- There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area
- the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000.00 - $304,200.00 per year.
