Division Overview | ITW Specialty Films ITW Specialty Films manufactures and markets specialized coated and metallized films used in Secure ID, Medical Specialty Bags, Financial Cards, Laminations, and Holographic applications. With multiple manufacturing facilities in the US, UK, and Germany, the division leverages core competencies in films, foils, holography, and laminates to meet complex customer needs.

Position Summary The Finishing Operator I is responsible for the setup, operation, monitoring, and changeover of finishing equipment used to slit, inspect, rewind, reroll, package, and prepare specialty film products to customer specifications.

This role directly impacts product quality, inventory accuracy, customer satisfaction, and production efficiency through adherence to established operating procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements. The position partners closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Materials teams to support safe operations, efficient workflow, and consistent delivery of high-quality products ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Safety & Compliance Follow all company safety policies, procedures, work instructions, and environmental requirements.

Comply with machine guarding requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE standards. Safely operate machinery, material handling equipment, and hand tools in accordance with established procedures. Report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, incidents, and near misses promptly to supervision.

Maintain a clean, organized work area in alignment with 5S and housekeeping expectations. Machine Operation & Setup Set up, operate, and perform changeovers on finishing equipment including slitters, inspection machines, rewinders, rerollers, and related converting equipment.

Read and interpret work orders, specifications, production schedules, and customer requirements to prepare equipment for production runs. Load and unload rolls of film, cores, packaging materials, and other production supplies. Thread, align, splice, and tension materials through equipment to achieve proper machine performance and product quality.

Verify blade positioning, roll dimensions, core requirements, and machine settings prior to production startup. Monitor machine performance throughout production runs and make adjustments within established operating parameters. Quality Monitoring & Process Control Perform in-process inspections to verify product compliance with customer specifications and quality standards.

Inspect products for defects including wrinkles, edge quality issues, telescoping, coating irregularities, dimensional variations, and other visual defects. Utilize measuring devices including tape measures, scales, gauges, and calipers to verify product specifications.

Identify quality concerns, segregate non-conforming material, and communicate issues to Quality and Production leadership. Troubleshoot operational and quality issues and assist in corrective actions to minimize scrap and downtime. Ensure finished products meet established quality requirements before release to the next process or shipment.

Material Handling, Documentation & Communication Safely move raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods using approved material handling equipment. Operate forklifts, electric pallet jacks, hoists, hand trucks, or other material handling equipment as trained and authorized.

Accurately complete production reports, quality documentation, inventory transactions, scrap records, and downtime reporting. Enter required production and inventory information into ERP, AS400, or other manufacturing systems. Label, package, and prepare finished products for shipment according to customer specifications and internal procedures.

Support effective shift handoffs through clear communication and proper documentation of operational status and quality concerns. QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully.

Ability to read and understand work instructions, production orders, and product specifications. Basic math and measurement skills. Ability to accurately use tape measures, scales, and inspection tools. Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.

Basic computer and data entry skills. Ability to safely work around moving machinery and material handling equipment. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical job duties. Preferred Experience operating slitters, rewinders, inspection machines, or converting equipment.

Experience in film manufacturing, coating, printing, packaging, or related industries. Forklift certification or material handling equipment experience. Experience utilizing ERP or manufacturing data collection systems. Basic mechanical troubleshooting and continuous improvement experience.

Work Environment / Physical Manufacturing environment requires routine floor presence around operating equipment. Regular exposure to noise, moving machinery, and material handling. Required use of PPE including safety glasses and safety footwear.

Position requires standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Environment may not be climate controlled. FLSA Status Full ‑ Time, Non-exempt Compensation Information: Pay Range Paid Hourly, 22.00- 26.00 per hr.
