- launch novel robotics hardware. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanism design, prototyping
- integration of robotic subsystems
- must have the ability to work well both independently and in a multidisciplinary team setting. Key job responsibilities - Design and detail mechanical components and assemblies for robotic hand, forearm
- actuator systems using CAD (SolidWorks or equivalent) - Generate engineering drawings, BOMs
- assembly documentation to support prototype builds - Support prototype fabrication, assembly
- integration of multi-DOF robotic mechanisms - Perform tolerance analysis, material selection
- basic structural/thermal calculations to inform design decisions - Collaborate with electrical, firmware
- controls engineers to ensure mechanical designs meet system-level requirements - Conduct hands-on testing, failure analysis
- design iteration based on test results - Maintain clear engineering documentation (design reports, test procedures, change logs)
- BS degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent - 3+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience - Knowledge of SolidWorks or similar CAD experience and understanding of best practices for part design
- advanced assemblies - Experience with prototyping methods (CNC machining, 3D printing, sheet metal) - Familiarity with common mechanical components: gears, bearings, fasteners, seals, actuators - Hands-on experience assembling and testing mechanical hardware
- Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools - Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume - Experience in robotics, mechatronics
- precision mechanism design - Knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) - Exposure to FEA tools (ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation
- equivalent) - Experience managing vendor relationships for prototype or low-volume production parts - Familiarity with tendon-driven mechanisms, compliant mechanisms
