About this Role Wells Fargo is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of Software Engineers responsible for designing, developing, and delivering enterprise-scale Java Microservices solutions. This role will oversee technical delivery, people leadership, strategic planning, and engineering excellence while partnering with business and technology stakeholders across global teams in the United States and India.
The manager will be accountable for team performance, talent development, delivery execution, operational stability, and alignment with organizational technology strategies. In this Role, You Will Leadership & People Management Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of Software Engineers and Senior Software Engineers.Establish clear performance expectations, conduct performance evaluations, and create career development plans for team members.Build a high-performing, inclusive, and collaborative engineering culture.Manage workforce planning, resource allocation, hiring, onboarding, and succession planning activities.Foster continuous learning and promote engineering best practices across the team.
Delivery & Execution Oversee the delivery of large-scale software engineering initiatives, ensuring quality, timeliness, and alignment with business objectives.Drive execution of strategic programs and technology roadmaps across multiple projects and workstreams.Manage project priorities, dependencies, risks, issues, and escalation paths.Ensure adherence to SDLC, Agile, DevSecOps, and enterprise engineering standards.Partner with product, architecture, infrastructure, security, and operations teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
Technical Leadership Provide technical oversight and guidance for Java Microservices-based application development.Review architecture, design approaches, code quality, and engineering practices.Drive adoption of modern engineering principles including cloud-native design, automation, CI/CD, and observability.Lead resolution of complex technical issues and provide executive-level communication during critical incidents.Champion software quality, reliability, scalability, security, and performance improvements.
Stakeholder Management Collaborate with senior technology leaders, business partners, architects, and cross-functional teams to define priorities and execution plans.Communicate delivery progress, risks, and strategic recommendations to leadership.Influence technology decisions and contribute to long-term platform and engineering strategies.Ensure compliance with organizational policies, governance standards, and regulatory requirements.
Operational Excellence Establish and monitor key delivery, reliability, and productivity metrics.Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, automation, stability, and cost optimization.Ensure proactive management of production support, incidents, problem management, and root-cause analysis activities.Support audit, risk, compliance, and information security requirements.
Required Qualifications: 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education 2+ years of Leadership experience Desired Qualifications 5+ years of Software Engineering experience with strong expertise in Java and Microservices architecture. 2+ years of people management or technical leadership experience leading engineering teams.
Proven experience delivering complex enterprise applications in Agile environments. Strong understanding of distributed systems, API development, cloud technologies, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software engineering practices. Experience managing global teams and executing projects across multiple geographic locations.
Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive strategic technology initiatives. Preferred Qualifications Experience leading large-scale digital transformation or modernization programs. Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), and DevSecOps practices.
Experience with enterprise integration patterns, event-driven architectures, and API management. Strong understanding of application security, resiliency, and operational excellence frameworks. Experience in financial services or highly regulated industries.
