Important: This role is part of the ENCORE program and is open only to retired Cigna Group employees. Role Overview Join a team driving the evolution of the Communication Platform that powers critical business experiences. In this role, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions across multiple initiatives.

You’ll partner with product owners, architecture, infrastructure, and engineering teams to bring ideas from concept through production—shaping solutions that are simple, resilient, and aligned to enterprise strategy. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in complexity, influences across teams, and brings both technical depth and a passion for modern engineering practices.

Responsibilities Lead end-to-end solution design and delivery across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, security (CIP), and infrastructure strategies Translate complex business needs into clear, scalable technical solutions that teams can execute confidently Provide technical leadership to engineers across delivery teams, guiding design decisions and elevating software engineering practices Drive high-quality, resilient solutions by balancing performance, security, scalability, and speed to market Collaborate closely with product owners, project managers, and business partners to shape scope, manage risk, and deliver measurable outcomes Serve as a technical point of contact and trusted advisor, communicating solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences Identify and remove delivery roadblocks while fostering focus, accountability, and momentum across teams Influence and contribute to project planning, including defining scope, identifying risks, and recommending solution approaches Support all phases of the delivery lifecycle, including design, development, testing, implementation, and post-production support Champion continuous improvement and innovation, driving simpler, more efficient solutions to complex challenges Required Qualifications 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with demonstrated leadership in solution design and delivery Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot, with experience designing enterprise-grade applications Experience with databases and messaging technologies such as Oracle, MongoDB, and Kafka Proven ability to design and implement systems integration, APIs, and distributed services Experience working with cloud platforms and modern development practices Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including performance, scalability, and security considerations Demonstrated ability to influence teams and drive delivery across multiple stakeholders Excellent problem-solving, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise language Experience operating in fast-paced environments with multiple priorities Preferred Qualifications Experience working in Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) environments Exposure to enterprise integration technologies and middleware platforms Experience working within regulated environments with security and compliance considerations Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
