Citi Investment Management ("CIM") is uniquely positioned within Citi Wealth's Investment Solutions group to offer global and regional-focused equity, fixed income and multi-asset class discretionary and advisory investment strategies with ability to customize according to clients' individual risk and return parameters, liquidity requirements, and other preferences.
The Business Group Manager (SVP - C14) is a senior leadership role within CIM. This role is responsible for the global business ownership of CIM’s investment platforms, operational processes, and vendor strategy, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.
Additionally, this individual will act as a critical bridge and subject matter expert during a major transitional phase, supporting the migration of products, quantitative models, and capabilities to our partner platform Citi Portfolio Solutions powered by BlackRock ("CxB").
The ideal candidate combines deep operational and platform expertise with strong quantitative analytics and vendor management experience. Key Responsibilities 1. Platform Ownership & Operational Excellence Global Business Owner: Serve as the global business owner for CIM’s investment platforms and core operational processes, driving efficiency, scalability, and risk mitigation.
Operational Oversight: Ensure smooth, uninterrupted day-to-day operations across CIM's investment management functions. Platform Strategy: Define and execute the long-term platform and technology strategy for CIM, aligning with broader Citi Wealth objectives. 2.
Vendor & Relationship Management Central Coordinator: Act as the central coordinator for all CIM third-party vendor relationships, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met. Business Activity Owner (BAO): Serve as the designated BAO for key vendor relationships, managing risk assessments, performance reviews, and compliance with Citi’s third-party risk management (TPRM) policies.
Vendor Strategy: Lead contract negotiations, cost-optimization initiatives, and strategic sourcing decisions for investment tools and data providers. 3. Transition Support & Model Management (Citi & CxB) Transition Support: Collaborate closely with teams across Citi and BlackRock ensure service levels are maintained during the transitional period.
Quantitative Model Support: Provide ongoing support for the quantitative stock selection models currently running at Citi until these models are fully replicated in production at BlackRock. Risk Model Management: Support Northfield Risk models covering Core Equity and Tax Aware Equity teams during the transition phase.
Prospect Tool Ownership: Maintain and support the Prospect Tool, a critical driver of new AUM used to transition clients into Tax Aware accounts. Model Risk Management (MRM): Act as the SME for CIM models, collaborating with Model Risk Management on model validation, ongoing monitoring, and the orderly retirement of legacy models.
Ad-Hoc Analytics: Address internal client requests regarding performance attribution, portfolio risk, positioning, tax alpha, and general product inquiries. 4. Product & Capability Enhancements CIM Platform Improvements: Execute priority platform projects driving product enhancements for Multi-Asset Class Solutions (MACS), Funds, and Discretionary Alternatives.
BlackRock Partnership: Execute platform initiatives delivering on the value of the strategic partnership with BlackRock and expansion of product offerings and capabilities across Citi Wealth segments. Qualifications & Experience: Experience: 10+ years of experience in investment management platforms and operations.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field. Technical & Analytical Skills: Strong understanding of investment management end-to-end trading processes. Experience with quantitative equity models and portfolio construction and institutional risk models (e.g., Northfield, Barra, Axioma).
Familiarity with performance attribution methodologies and tax-efficient investing (tax alpha). Vendor Management: Proven experience managing complex vendor relationships, ideally serving as a Business Activity Owner (BAO) or equivalent within a highly regulated financial institution.
Change Management: Demonstrated track record of leading platform migrations or system integrations. Leadership: Strong leadership presence with a proven track record of mentoring and developing high-potential talent. Communication: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to confidently address ambiguous client questions and simplify complex technical concepts.
