Title: Associate Project Manager Overview The Associate Project Manager is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, execution, and delivery of offshore Oil & Gas projects, with a strong focus on FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) facilities.
Working under general supervision, the role ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with client requirements, company procedures, and industry standards. The position serves as a key interface between clients, engineering disciplines, procurement teams, fabrication contractors, and project stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.Skills are typically acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree in Engineering and a minimum of 10 years related experience, with average experience of 15-20 years.
Key Responsibilities Plan, organize, coordinate and monitor project activities in alignment with approved project procedures, standards and client requirements. Act as a primary point of contact for clients on day-to-day project matters, ensuring effective communication and high levels of client satisfaction.
Support project execution throughout the lifecycle, including engineering, procurement, fabrication, commissioning and delivery phases. Coordinate and manage internal and external project interfaces across multidisciplinary teams. Supervise project personnel through subordinate team leaders and ensure effective allocation of resources.
Monitor project schedules, budgets, deliverables and performance metrics to ensure successful project execution. Identify, escalate, and facilitate resolution of project issues that may impact cost, schedule, quality or safety. Support the Management of Change (MOC) process by assessing impacts, maintaining documentation and coordinating approvals.
Assist in risk identification, assessment and mitigation planning to minimize project exposure and ensure successful delivery. Prepare and maintain project schedules, progress reports, budget forecasts and status updates. Participate in proposal development and may serve as Proposal Manager for medium-sized projects.
Ensure compliance with applicable HSE requirements, company standards, client specifications and regulatory obligations. Procurement & Equipment Coordination Responsibilities Coordinate Mechanical Equipment procurement activities throughout the project lifecycle.
Act as focal point for procurement-related activities including: Bid clarification meetings Technical and commercial evaluations Procurement status reviews Vendor kick-off meetings Progress and expediting reviews Liaise closely with Mechanical Package Engineers, Procurement teams, Vendors and Client representatives.
Monitor vendor performance and ensure procurement deliverables are aligned with project schedules. Support equipment inspections, documentation reviews and vendor data management activities. Required Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
Experience in project coordination, project engineering, or project management within the Oil & Gas industry. Demonstrated experience supporting offshore projects, preferably involving FPSO facilities. Experience coordinating Mechanical Equipment procurement activities and vendor management.
Strong understanding of project execution processes, engineering deliverables, procurement, and construction activities. Knowledge of multidisciplinary engineering execution for offshore projects. Familiarity with project scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and change management processes.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and coordination skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with topsides and module fabrication activities. Understanding of procurement and supply chain processes for offshore projects. Experience supporting digital project delivery initiatives.
Prior exposure to EPC/EPCI project environments. Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent) is an advantage. Technical Skills Knowledge of offshore Oil & Gas design and engineering practices. Familiarity with FPSO systems and project execution methodologies.
Working knowledge of engineering and design tools including: 3D CAD Intelligent P&IDs SPI (SmartPlant Instrumentation) SPE (SmartPlant Electrical) Navisworks Knowledge of digital engineering and integrated project delivery platforms is preferred.
Proficiency in project planning and reporting tools such as Primavera P6 and MS Project is an advantage.
