Job Title: Scientific Writer, Radioconjugate Discovery Location: Hamilton, Ontario Onsite 5 days/week Introduction AstraZeneca's Radioconjugate (RC) Discovery team is at the forefront of developing next-generation targeted radiotherapeutics.

We are seeking a Scientific Writer to serve as a core enabler of the group's scientific communication, knowledge synthesis, and publication activities. This role will combine rigorous literature and landscape research with high-quality scientific writing, presentation creation and visual communication to support the RC Discovery team's internal decision-making, external visibility, and scientific impact.

Key Responsibilities Conduct structured research of the scientific literature, patent filings, conference abstracts and presentations, and press releases on topics of strategic interest to RC Discovery, using competitive intelligence tools and databases Synthesize findings into clear, actionable slide decks and written summaries for presentation to scientists and leaders within RC Discovery Monitor developments across relevant therapeutic areas, isotopes, targeting modalities, and competitor programs to ensure the team maintains current awareness Respond to ad hoc research requests from RC Discovery leaders, delivering timely and well-organized outputs Prepare high-quality slide decks for internal presentations, governance meetings, and cross-functional forums on behalf of RC Discovery scientists Design and produce scientific posters for internal and external conferences (e.g., SNMMI, EANM, AACR, …) Create graphical abstracts, mechanistic schemas, data visualizations, and infographics that communicate complex radiochemistry and biology concepts with clarity and visual impact Establish and maintain standardized templates to ensure consistency and professionalism across all group outputs Edit, format, and coordinate the submission of manuscripts authored by scientists within the group Manage the journal submission process end-to-end, including correspondence with editors, coordination of reviewer responses, and preparation of revised manuscripts Support figure preparation and ensure compliance with journal-specific formatting and style requirements Track publication timelines and maintain a publications pipeline for the group Write decision-support documents, project summaries, and stage-gate documentation to support RC Discovery's portfolio progression Prepare internal scientific reports that distill complex datasets or landscape analyses into structured narratives for senior collaborators Contribute to the preparation of materials for governance reviews and investment cases as needed Essential Requirements Advanced degree (PhD or MSc) in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, nuclear medicine, biology, or a related field) Demonstrated experience in scientific writing, medical writing, or scientific communications within a pharmaceutical, biotech, or academic research environment Strong literature research skills, including proficiency with scientific databases (e.g., PubMed, SciFinder, Espacenet/patent databases) and the ability to efficiently extract, critically evaluate, and synthesize information from diverse sources Excellent visual communication skills, with proven ability to create clear, compelling figures, schemas, and data visualizations using tools such as PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator, BioRender, or equivalent Publication track record or experience managing the manuscript preparation and journal submission process Outstanding written and verbal communication in English, with strong attention to detail and the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences (bench scientists, leadership, external conferences) Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent deliverables, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced research environment Collaborative approach, with comfort working across multidisciplinary teams and engaging proactively with scientists to understand their communication needs Desirable Requirements Prior experience in radioconjugates, radiopharmaceuticals, nuclear medicine, or targeted therapeutics Familiarity with competitive intelligence tools and platforms (e.g., Cortellis, Citeline, PatSnap, or similar) Experience with data visualization software beyond PowerPoint (e.g., Prism, R/ggplot, Python/matplotlib) Knowledge of the drug discovery and development process, including stage-gate frameworks Experience preparing materials for regulatory or governance decision points Poster or presentation design for major scientific conferences Great People want to Work with us!
