Who We Want We are looking for a Staff Product Owner who will become the trusted point of reference for the mobile applications within Stryker’s Smart Care platform. This individual will develop a strong understanding of hospital customer workflows, mobile user experiences, product architecture, integrations, and business priorities.

Working within the strategic direction established by the Product Manager, the Staff Product Owner will translate customer needs and roadmap priorities into clear, valuable, and executable work for software development teams. The ideal candidate combines technical aptitude, customer focus, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across technical and nontechnical audiences.

This person is focused on successful product outcomes—not simply maintaining a backlog—and takes ownership of the product experience from concept through release and customer adoption. What You Will Do Product Ownership and Delivery Execute the product roadmap for assigned mobile applications across iOS and Android platforms.

Translate product strategy, customer workflows, and business needs into prioritized epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and development-ready backlog items. Manage the backlog by balancing roadmap features, customer escalations, defects, technical debt, quality needs, and innovation opportunities.

Guide product capabilities from concept through development, validation, release, adoption, and continuous improvement. Support the development and launch of a new Smart Care mobile application while sustaining the existing application and planning the transition of current customers to the new platform.

Represent the mobile product in cross-functional and leadership discussions, communicating priorities, progress, dependencies, risks, and tradeoffs. Customer and Product Experience Develop a strong understanding of hospital workflows, user needs, and the operational challenges the product is intended to solve.

Engage with customers and internal stakeholders through discovery discussions, demonstrations, workflow reviews, and feedback sessions. Incorporate customer insights into product requirements, backlog priorities, and user-experience improvements.

Partner with Product Management and design resources to shape mobile workflows and experiences aligned with the broader Smart Care strategy. Evaluate product decisions based on customer value, business impact, technical feasibility, quality, and strategic alignment.

Technical and Cross-Functional Collaboration Develop working knowledge of the assigned applications, system architecture, APIs, integrations, and dependencies across mobile, web, badge, device, and platform endpoints. Partner with developers and architects to evaluate implementation options, technical tradeoffs, sequencing, and delivery risks.

Coordinate cross-team dependencies and identify technical constraints, quality concerns, and potential customer impacts early. Participate in design reviews, requirement walkthroughs, backlog refinement, sprint planning, product demonstrations, validation activities, and release-readiness discussions.

Collaborate with Engineering, Architecture, Quality, Clinical, Regulatory, Design, Marketing, Support, and Project Management to resolve product and delivery challenges. Contribute to stronger product ownership practices, backlog quality, planning discipline, and execution processes.

Share best practices and provide guidance to Product Owners and Product Analysts within assigned initiatives. What You Need Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required. 4+ years of professional experience in software product ownership, business analysis, software development, systems analysis, product management, or a related field is required.

Experience working with software development teams to define, develop, or deliver software products or applications is required. Preferred Qualifications (You Do Not Need to Have All of These) Experience owning a software application, product backlog, platform capability, or significant feature area.

Experience translating customer or business needs into software requirements, user stories, workflows, and acceptance criteria. Experience prioritizing product work across new features, defects, technical debt, customer requests, and delivery constraints.

Working knowledge of software architecture, APIs, integrations, cloud-based platforms, or distributed systems. Experience with mobile applications, including iOS or Android products. Experience supporting new application development, product launches, application modernization, or customer migrations.

Experience working with products that operate across multiple applications, devices, systems, or connected endpoints. Experience engaging directly with customers or end users to understand workflows and gather product feedback. Experience partnering with software developers, architects, quality teams, designers, and other cross-functional stakeholders.

Experience with enterprise software, healthcare technology, hospital workflows, regulated products, or other complex software environments. Demonstrated ability to solve ambiguous problems, communicate technical concepts clearly, and influence teams without direct authority. $112,900 - $188,100 USD Annual Travel Percentage: 30% Stryker Corporation is an equal opportunity employer.
