Functional Job Title: Quality Assurance lead, Senoir Associate Reports to: Department/ Division: Retiree Services - Tech – India/ GTS Location: India Job Description We are seeking an India‑based Senior Automation QA Engineer to play a key role in ensuring software quality within a fast‑paced Agile development environment .
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a highly skilled team delivering large‑scale development initiatives. In this role, you will analyze business and technical requirements and design and execute both manual and automated tests for web and API‑based applications using Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress , while collaborating closely with cross‑functional Agile teams.
You will contribute to building and maintaining automation frameworks , support CI/CD pipelines , manage defects using Jira , and promote quality best practices across the software development lifecycle. What we value These skills will help you succeed in this role A strong ownership mindset with the ability to independently drive quality outcomes end‑to‑end A balanced and practical understanding of automation and manual testing , applied effectively in real‑world Agile environments Ability to collaborate effectively with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), developers, product owners, and other stakeholders to achieve shared quality goals A passion for quality engineering best practices , with a continuous improvement mindset Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills , enabling clear articulation of risks, issues, and solutions Discipline and accountability to work within defined timelines, sprint commitments, and delivery schedules A willingness to mentor and upskill team members while remaining a hands‑on individual contributor Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks and test suites for web and API‑based applications using Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress Perform and guide manual testing activities including functional, regression, smoke, and exploratory testing , ensuring adequate coverage and validation Apply testing standards and best practices (STLC, SDLC, defect lifecycle, test design techniques) effectively within Agile/Scrum environments Develop and enhance automation scripts and utilities using Java, JavaScript, or Python , with a focus on long‑term maintainability Plan and execute API testing and validation , including request/response verification, integrations, and data flows using Postman, Rest Assured, or equivalent tools Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and cross‑functional teams to ensure clear understanding of requirements and high‑quality delivery Act as a hands‑on individual contributor while mentoring and training team members on testing standards and automation best practices Adhere to defined testing schedules and delivery timelines to support predictable and efficient releases Education & Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering , or a related discipline 5+ years of hands‑on experience in software quality assurance , with a strong balance of automation and manual testing Strong understanding of software testing principles , including requirements analysis, test design, execution, and defect management Extensive experience working in Agile/Scrum environments , actively participating across the sprint lifecycle Proven ability to translate complex business requirements into effective functional test cases and execute them to successful completion Strong hands‑on expertise with UI automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress , along with API testing exposure Hands‑on experience executing automation across web, API, and desktop applications Experience maintaining and optimizing automation assets, test cases, and test libraries , including manual and automated regression suites Exposure to model‑based automation tools such as Tosca (Nice to Have) Proven ability to train, mentor, and upskill team members , enabling them to actively contribute to automation initiatives Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and interpersonal skills Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, adaptable, and capable of working effectively in fast‑changing environments Why this role is important to us Our technology function, Global Technology Services (GTS), is vital to State Street and is the key enabler for our business to deliver data and insights to our clients.
