We are seeking an experienced and motivated System Development Manager to lead a team of systems development engineers within KDSI. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical depth in enterprise infrastructure and engineering platforms with proven people management skills. - operational excellence of the critical infrastructure and platforms that enable Leo's engineering, manufacturing
- operational workflows. Key job responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Development: Hire, mentor, and develop a team of system development engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and operational excellence.
- Strategic Planning: Define and execute the infrastructure roadmap for KDSI services, aligning team priorities with Leo's business objectives and growth trajectory.
- Enterprise Platform Ownership: Own the delivery and operational health of enterprise platforms such as ServiceNow, and EDM that support engineering data and lifecycle management workflows.
- Manufacturing & Factory Systems: Drive the strategy and operations of factory and lab infrastructure including Hexagon EAM and digital signage systems.
- Automation & Scalability: Champion automation strategies, including infrastructure as code, scripting
- CI/CD pipelines, to streamline deployments, reduce toil
- improve operational efficiency across all managed services.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure infrastructure configurations comply with internal policies, AWS best practices, and applicable government and industry standards, including NIST, FedRAMP, ITAR, and EAR where applicable.
- Operational Excellence: Establish and maintain operational metrics, SLAs, and processes to ensure the health, performance, and reliability of all infrastructure systems.
- Stakeholder Management: Partner with cross-functional leaders, including Engineering, Manufacturing, Security
- IT, to understand requirements, prioritize work
- deliver scalable, compliant infrastructure solutions.
- Documentation & Standards: Establish team standards for architecture designs, SOPs
- disaster recovery plans. About the team The Leo Devices & Systems – Infrastructure (KDSI) team is a builder and operations team dedicated to designing, deploying
- running the robust, scalable
- compliant infrastructure that underpins Leo's core engineering and operational capabilities. Leveraging AWS best practices, the team implements and manages enterprise platforms and specialized engineering systems—including ServiceNow, Hexagon EAM
- secure development tools—while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence to meet Kuiper's dynamic needs with reliability and quality.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics
- a related field - 5+ years of managing system or software development teams experience - 7+ years of relevant hands-on systems engineering and administrative work in networking, storage systems, operating systems experience - Experience in systems engineering and operations leadership for an Internet service or leading-edge IT organization - Experience in managing system or software development teams
- Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing
- operational excellence - Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems) - Experience with Agile engineering practices (Kanban, continuous delivery, etc.) - Experience with AWS platforms, services
