Responsible for the development and execution of Evernorth Specialty Pharma strategy to include Business Development and Account Management in support of Evernorth Specialty businesses. This role is a critical and highly influential leadership role within the organization and is vital in achieving the pharmacy’s short- and long-term objectives, including sustained profitable growth and value-creation through Pharma relationships.
Responsible for building and maintaining key strategic relationships in support of Evernorth Specialty portfolio. This position has oversite of the contract, development and execution of short- and long-term account strategy, retention and achieving business unit strategic goals within the Pharma manufacturer portfolio.
This includes renegotiating contracts as needed. This position serves as the escalation point for all pharma clients, as well as collaborates with the Specialty Product Team, Specialty Operations and other internal stakeholders to ensure growth and profitability.
This role will be responsible for working with the Senior Director and Directors of Business Development in creating and developing strategies for new therapy access. Responsibilities This role will be supporting all Evernorth Specialty businesses, including but not limited to: Accredo, CuraScript, Freedom Fertility, ESSDS.
Guides the company on strategic decisions and provides detail that has a significant impact on strategic planning. Contributes to strategic planning for client renewal and retention. Develops and executes account strategies that result in revenue growth.
Negotiates and manages detail, timeframes, and renewal of client contracts. Works with internal and external business partners to ensure that account expectations are met. Anticipates internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues; recommends process, product or service improvements.
Solves unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business. Possesses industry-wide authority and represents the organization externally. Widely recognized expert and thought leader by both internal and external specialty pharmacy community.
Responsible for the Pharma limited distribution network sales strategies. Partners directly with internal teams on contracting sales of data solutions to Pharma (new client). Adaptable, nimble and demonstrated record of leading and developing high-performing teams Strong strategy and execution focus, has a bottom-line orientation and a demonstrated track record of driving desired outcomes.
Manages budget for Account Management and Business Development teams. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience (prefer MBA or PharmD). 10-14 years relevant with Bachelor’s degree, 8-12 years relevant experience with Masters.
Strong project management skills. Superior written and verbal communication and presentation skills. PC skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of financials with ability to assess product and program metrics and financials.
Negotiation and leadership skills are essential. Superior analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent organization skills. Experience leading client meetings. Experience leading teams with direct reports. Demonstrated experience negotiating and managing contracts with utmost integrity.
Knowledge of the Specialty Healthcare, Pharma and PBM industry preferred. Ability to develop strategic work plans and assess opportunities to grow profitable business. Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to identify issues, determine root cause, and develop remediation plans.
Ability, confidence and experience to be counterparts with Pharma contacts with 20 years of experience. Demonstrated ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment. Experience leading cross-functional initiatives, teams and acting in a mentor capacity.
Demonstrated ability to work with other departments to collaborate, facilitate and resolve issues and be able to develop customized solutions to meet business requirements. Ability to prioritize work and make independent decisions. Ability to meet deadlines, and document progress on projects as required.
This role requires 30% travel. If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 212,000 - 353,300 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location. This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus and long term incentive plan.
