Role profile: We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Database Engineer to join our DataScope Database Administration team. The team manages more than 400+ Sybase ASE, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and Azure/AWS Cloud based database environments across development, testing, pre-production, and production platforms.
In this role, you will partner with application development, QA, infrastructure, cloud, and product teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure database solutions and stabilize database operation day to day. You will contribute to project delivery, database modernization initiatives, operational excellence, automation, performance optimization, and cloud adoption efforts.

Responsibilities Project Delivery & Database Change Management Partner with development and product teams to review database designs for new initiatives, enhancements, and defect resolutions.
Evaluate the impact of database changes across upstream and downstream systems and customer environments. Coordinate release planning, testing, and deployment activities for database changes. Implement database updates across centralized and customer database environments while maintaining stability and data integrity.
Support project delivery by providing database expertise throughout the software development lifecycle. Database Engineering & Development Design, develop, and enhance database tools, utilities, and automation solutions. Support data entitlement and distribution requirements through database and application enhancements.
Develop and maintain database objects, maintenance scripts, reports, and monitoring solutions. Contribute to proof-of-concept initiatives and platform evaluations across database technologies. Quality Assurance & Technical Consulting Collaborate with QA teams to support database testing activities.
Provide database technical guidance for test planning, troubleshooting, and issue resolution. Assist cross-functional teams in identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions. Cloud & Platform Modernization Support database deployments and modernization initiatives within Azuer/AWS and other cloud environments.
Participate in architecture, implementation, and operational support for cloud-based database platforms. Assist with capacity planning, monitoring, maintenance, and release management in cloud environments. Contribute to infrastructure upgrades, database migrations, and technology refresh programs.
Operational Support & Reliability Provide support for database incidents including performance issues, data discrepancies, latency concerns, access requests, and system availability issues. Monitor database health proactively and implement preventative measures to minimize service disruptions.
Perform database performance tuning, optimization, and capacity management activities. Support disaster recovery exercises, failover testing, backup validation, and restoration testing. Coordinate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to support ongoing operational requirements.
Participate in scheduled support activities and critical maintenance windows as needed. Automation & Continuous Improvement Develop and enhance scripts, tools, and automation processes using scripting and programming languages with AI technology adoption Improve operational efficiency through standardization, monitoring, and process optimization.
Document procedures, best practices, and technical solutions to support knowledge sharing. Required Skills Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Experience administering and supporting enterprise database environments, including: Sybase ASE (16.x) Azure/AWS SQL managed instance Experience supporting databases on RedHat Linux platforms.
Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills in complex production environments. Experience with SQL performance tuning, stored procedures, triggers, and database optimization. Experience developing and maintaining automation scripts using one or more of the following: Python Bash Perl Knowledge of database replication technologies and high-availability solutions.
Familiarity with database backup, recovery, failover, and disaster recovery practices. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently when needed.
Desired Skills Experience with Azure, AWS, or other cloud platforms. Experience supporting large-scale OLTP and/or data warehouse environments(Snowflake) Knowledge of Sybase Replication Server, SQL Server Replication, Warm Standby, Database Mirroring, or related technologies.
Experience on Kafka message base data distribution system and Azure ADF tool Experience with benchmark testing, load testing, and performance assessment activities. Experience supporting database migrations, platform upgrades, and infrastructure modernization efforts.
Experience building operational tools, monitoring solutions, or self-service support capabilities. Knowledge of Linux, Solaris, and command-line administration tools. Experience with AWS Aurora PostgreSQL, MySQL or Oracle database administration.
Experience with NoSQL, Azure Cosmos DB Strong passion for technology, a willingness to learn new skills Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills Experience in Financial industry is plus Success in This Role Successful candidates will demonstrate: A proactive and customer-focused mindset.

A collaborative approach to working across global and distributed teams. Career Stage: Senior Associate Compensation/Benefits Information: LSEG is committed to offering competitive Compensation and Benefits. The anticipated base salary for this position is $100,200 - $167,000.
Please be aware base salary ranges may vary by geographic location, city and state. In addition to our offered base salary, this role is eligible for our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP/”bonus plan”). Target AIP rates will be commensurate with role level and posted career stage.
Individual salary will be reflective of job related knowledge, skills and equivalent experience.
