Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer - Senior Manager

Who we are looking for We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer (Infrastructure as Code) to lead the delivery of reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure automation across multi-cloud and on-prem environments within Platform Engineering.

This role is ideal for someone who is highly experienced, detail-oriented, and passionate about solving complex infrastructure challenges using code. You will work closely with platform, security, and application teams to design and implement automation using Terraform and Ansible , establish engineering standards, and drive adoption of reusable, secure-by-design infrastructure patterns.

This role is vital in reducing manual effort, improving operational resilience, strengthening compliance posture, and enabling self-service infrastructure capabilities for application teams through automation and standardization. What you will be responsible for As a Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer , you will: Design, develop, and maintain Terraform modules and infrastructure pipelines to provision cloud and on-prem infrastructure in a scalable and reusable manner Develop and govern Ansible playbooks and roles for configuration management, ensuring consistency, security, and drift remediation Define and enforce Infrastructure as Code (IaC) standards , including naming conventions, modular design, testing, and code quality practices Build and manage CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure automation, including validation, testing, approvals, and controlled releases Integrate infrastructure automation with enterprise platforms such as Git, CI/CD tools, and ServiceNow for self-service provisioning and orchestration Implement security and compliance controls within automation workflows, including secrets management, policy enforcement, and audit readiness Develop and enhance observability and reporting , including dashboards for infrastructure health, automation success/failure, and compliance metrics Investigate and resolve complex automation failures and performance issues, driving root cause analysis and continuous improvement Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support onboarding and adoption of automation platforms and tools Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineers, promoting best practices and engineering excellence What we value These skills will help you succeed in this role: Strong hands-on experience with Terraform (enterprise scale preferred) and Ansible Automation Platform for infrastructure provisioning and configuration management Deep understanding of Infrastructure as Code principles , modular design, and configuration management practices Experience with multi-cloud platforms (AWS / Azure preferred) and hybrid infrastructure environments Strong scripting skills (Python / PowerShell / Bash) and proficiency in YAML, HCL , and Git-based workflows Experience with CI/CD pipelines , automation testing, and release management practices Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks (CIS, NIST, PCI, etc.) and ability to embed controls within automation Familiarity with observability tools (Splunk, Grafana, monitoring/logging platforms) and operational reporting Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills with an ability to work across global teams Education & Preferred Qualifications A bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field is required 10+ years of experience in Infrastructure Automation, DevOps, or Platform Engineering roles Relevant certifications such as Terraform, AWS/Azure, or Ansible are preferred Additional requirements Being flexible to work on weekend if required for release deployments Work Requirement Shift timing: 13:00 - 22:00 IST About State Street Across the globe, institutional investors rely on us to help them manage risk, respond to challenges, and drive performance and profitability.
