The Role At the General Motors N&V Center, we are responsible for integrating vehicle-level performance to meet customer expectations for Noise & Vibration (N&V) performance.

This includes the up-front development of vehicle-level and subsystem requirements for components used in both internal combustion engine and battery electric vehicle applications. Developing these requirements is critical to how our customers perceive our vehicles from both a quality and overall performance perspective.

The ideal N&V Center Performance Integration Engineer is a fully qualified, experienced professional who is comfortable owning complex, cross-functional N&V integration challenges across multiple programs. This person will bring d eep exper tise in their area, broad understanding of adjacent domains, and exercise independent judgment on significant technical and product program matters.

They will have an interest in a wide variety of work content, and in leading cross-functional collaboration with multiple component owners and the broader performance integration team. This role provides a mix of lab development work, supplier and release support, validation support, and interactions with quality and manufacturing organizations.

The candidate is expected to shape solutions, influence decisions beyond their immediate team, and drive continuous improvement in N&V methods and requirements. N&V Center Performance Integration Engineers are a key part of the team transforming how GM handles N&V .

They will learn our current vehicle integration processes and play a leading role in modernizing our development techniques and tools into the future. This engineer will need to o perate as an experienced professional with expertise in N&V and broad understanding of related areas a s well as be willing and able to take on broad challenges and decompose them into initiatives capable of implementation.

What You'll Do Serve as the primary N&V Center Performance Integration Engineer for assigned components, subsystems, or attributes, exercising independent judgment on complex N&V trade-offs across vehicle applications. Provide direct support to the N&V Architecture Lead Engineers for future vehicle programs, proactively identifying risks and opportunities and proposing data-driven solutions and u se advanced analytical and problem-solving techniques to resolve a wide range of non-standard problems with minimal guidance Independently create and manage project plans for testing and execution to establish N&V requirements for any component on the vehicle (electrical modules, HVAC, interior components, etc.), covering structural noise and vibration, airborne noise, squeak & rattle, and regulatory items.

Own the creation, documentation, and cascading of N& V compone nt and subsystem requirements that support vehicle-level targets. Communicate results, recommendations, and trade-offs to key stakeholders across multiple organizations and levels of the company .

Support and, where appropriate , lead product design, development, and validation for N&V functions through the development and application of math-based tools and models. Use all N&V data acquisition tools (e.g., LMS and HEAD systems) to independently plan and conduct complex testing, interpret results, and recommend countermeasures.

Drive continuous improvement by documenting lessons learned, leading or actively contributing to peer review and program review meetings, and championing best practices across programs. Partner with other development engineers on lab testing and analysis to efficiently root cause vehicle-level issues and translate findings into robust design or process changes.

Provide advanced technical support to vehicle program teams, release engineering organizations, validation, quality, and manufacturing, often acting as the go-to resource for complex N&V questions. Participate in and sometimes lead design/peer reviews, ensuring N&V requirements and learnings are fully considered.

Share lessons learned broadly with peers and leaders, and recommend changes to standards, methods, or architectures based on completed work. Develop into and serve as a mentor and resource for less experienced engineers, providing coaching and guidance on difficult issues and helping build the team’s overall capability.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related Engineering degree. 4+ years of professional engineering experience. Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to operate test vehicles.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) 5+ years of N&V experience. 3+ years of Design Release Engineering experience. Experience using Teamcenter, NX, Vis Mockup, and CAE tools. High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others, and ability to establish strong peer relationships across functions.

Ability to prioritize work and resources and work independently with minimal direction while managing multiple complex assignments. Proficiency with N&V data acquisition systems and test equipment (e.g., LMS and HEAD Acoustics). Prior knowledge of noise and vibration principles and structural integration fundamentals.
