You will translate our complex technical breakthroughs—from proprietary silicon to next-gen systems—into powerful stories that resonate with customers, analysts, and employees worldwide Your Impact The Director of Executive Communications serves as a strategic advisor to the senior leadership of our Silicon, Systems, and Optics organizations.

You will define and execute communication strategies that elevate our executive presence, translate complex technical concepts into compelling narratives, and advance Cisco’s AI story. This is a high-visibility role for a storyteller who can bridge strategic planning with hands-on execution.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Advising: Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership. Develop and manage communication roadmaps, event calendars, and strategic opportunities that align with business objectives. Narrative & Content Development: Craft clear, consistent messaging for diverse audiences.

Oversee the production of speeches, keynotes, presentations, articles, and multimedia content that drive thought leadership. Executive Coaching: Partner with executives to refine their presentation skills, communication style, and overall engagement approach with internal and external stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Marketing, PR, Analyst Relations, Investor Relations, and HR to ensure messaging consistency across all internal and external channels. Strategy Execution & Measurement: Design and implement communication vehicles (broadcasts, roundtables, social media, etc.).

Establish KPIs to measure effectiveness and continuously refine strategies based on data and feedback. Core Competencies Strategic Storytelling: Ability to distill highly complex technical information into clear, palatable, and impactful soundbites.

Executive Presence: Proven ability to influence senior leaders and operate independently in a fast-paced, technical environment. Operational Excellence: Experience managing complex activity calendars and high-visibility events (e.g., industry conferences, customer advisory boards).

Adaptability: Ability to pivot seamlessly between strategic thinking and tactical execution

Minimum Qualifications

  • 12-15 years of related experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business Administration
  • related field 7+ years internal/external communications in varied disciplines, such as organizational communications, executive communications

  • Message to applicants applying to work in the U.S. and/or Canada: The starting salary range posted for this position is $230,000.00 to $289,800.00 and reflects the projected salary range for new hires in this position in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including incentive compensation*, equity, or benefits.

  • For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows: .75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota
  • 1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%
  • 1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%
  • and Once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
  • For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay 0% up to 125% of target.
  • Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
  • The applicable full salary ranges for this position, by specific state, are listed below: New York City Metro Area: $230,000.00 - $333,300.00 Non-Metro New York state & Washington state: $207,000.00 - $300,000.00 * For quota-based sales roles on Cisco’s sales plan, the ranges provided in this posting include base pay and sales target incentive compensation combined. ** Employees in Illinois, whether exempt or non-exempt, will participate in a unique time off program to meet local requirements.
