Focus of the Role As a Health and Safety Specialist, you will develop, implement, and enhance Health, Safety, Environment, Quality, and Risk (HSRQ) systems and initiatives across Field Services. The role is pivotal in reducing safety incidents, ensuring compliance, and driving operational efficiency.
This will be 12 months fixed term opportunity. Purchased annual leave scheme Additional Telstra day off Additional 30% off Telstra products and services Toolkit provided (laptop + mobile phone + plan paid for) What You’ll Do The purpose of the role is to assist with the development, implementation and enhancement of Field Services Health, Safety, Environment, Quality and Risk management systems and initiatives.
Success will require the incumbent to collaboratively work with numerous stakeholders, to deliver and execute effective Quality, Health, Safety, Environment and Risk solutions to reduce overall risk and safety incidents to maintain compliance to standards, minimise waste and increase operational efficiencies.
Supports incident and hazard investigation, management, response, action planning, and learnings in Field Services by: Facilitate Communication & Engagement Act as a conduit between leadership and stakeholders, ensuring consistent messaging, clear communication, and effective facilitation of meetings and presentations.
Lead Incident & Hazard Management Conduct investigations to analyse incidents and hazards, determine root causes, and document findings. Coordinate immediate responses and develop action plans to prevent recurrence. Uplift Capability Train and coach in leading incident and hazard management, promoting a proactive and informed safety culture.
Strengthen Risk Controls Assist in identifying, documenting, and planning key controls for top risks. Monitor, test, and report on control effectiveness across Field Services. Promote Compliance & Assurance Support in audits, risk assessments, and reporting to ensure adherence to safety regulations and standards.
Support independent assurance of internal controls and governance processes. Drive Continuous Improvement Support corrective actions and root cause analysis to streamline Quality, HSE, and Risk processes, reduce duplication, and improve outcomes.
Enhance Reporting & Transparency Prepare and present reports on HSE risks, performance, and compliance. Analyse safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement and ensure transparent dissemination of risk information. Foster a Learning Culture Encourage knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across teams, building greater risk maturity and frontline engagement.
About You To be successful in the role, you'll bring the following: At least 2 years working with and influencing a large field workforce (More than 1000) Strong high-risk industry and incident response and investigation experience. Min. Certificate IV and at least 5 years' experience in Workplace Health & Safety Excellent Microsoft Office knowledge and skills, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
A clear and experience-based understanding of incident management and investigation in a high-risk work environment Understanding of the “3 lines of defence” model. Experience in managing and working with strategic partners. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills Demonstrated ability to work with ambiguity to tight timelines Strong data analytic skills Demonstrated experience in manipulating data and using systems.
Have a good understanding of HSE and Quality Management System Standards (ISO9001, ISO45001, ISO14001) and Assurance. Highly Desirable Education Certificate or Diploma or similar tertiary qualifications in Leadership Management, Work Health Safety, Risk Management, Quality Management, Program Management, or related disciplines.
Planning & Strategy Exposure to strategic, tactical, and operational planning, including workforce strategy and planning. Stakeholder Management Demonstrated Experience managing relationships across multiple organisational layers. Project & Program Management Familiarity with managing complex projects or programs within safety, risk, or quality domains.
