Career Category Operations Job Description Director, Commercial Analytics Obesity Intelligence & Analytics | Amgen India Reports to: Executive Director, Obesity Intelligence & Analytics Role Summary This is an India-based global leadership role supporting Amgen's global obesity business, with significant focus on the U.S. market.
The role builds the commercial analytics capability that informs strategy, sales execution, customer engagement, payer/pricing decisions, and growth priorities. The mandate is to turn ambiguous questions into clear choices. Working with global commercial leaders and U.S. stakeholders, this leader converts business needs into scalable analysis, decision frameworks, and reusable insight products that help leaders allocate resources, identify execution gaps, and act with confidence.
Success requires sound commercial judgment, clear executive communication, and a strong understanding of U.S. pharmaceutical selling models, field dynamics, HCP and account engagement, and the data ecosystems used to guide commercialization.
The Director will build and continuously strengthen an India-based commercial analytics capability recognized by global commercial leaders for trusted judgment, execution excellence, measurable business impact, and the ability to anticipate evolving business needs.
Key Responsibilities 1. Commercial Analytics Strategy & Prioritization Set the commercial analytics agenda for obesity, including roadmap, delivery priorities, and senior decision forums. Turn product, field, account, payer/pricing, and U.S. stakeholder questions into pragmatic analytical plans and usable decision assets.
Bring discipline to intake, prioritization, quality, governance, and execution without creating unnecessary process burden. Surface risks, options, and trade-offs early, backed by evidence and grounded in commercial reality. Raise the standard for reusable methods, continuously evolve how the function works, and build capabilities that improve over time as business needs change. 2.
Product, Launch & External Intelligence Shape analysis that informs product strategy, commercialization readiness, lifecycle planning, and in-market action. Track the competitive landscape, treatment environment, access/pricing shifts, HCP behavior, and external signals, with strong attention to U.S. dynamics.
Synthesize market, customer, competitive, and policy insights into clear assessments of launch readiness. Synthesize diverse internal and external data to identify opportunities, risks, and strategic priorities. Convert them into executive-ready narratives that clarify implications and decisions. 3.
HCP, Account & Field Effectiveness Lead analysis for field sizing, customer segmentation, HCP/account engagement, and field execution. Develop national and sub-national insights that guide resource allocation, launch sequencing, and customer prioritization Work across commercial, medical, market access, and product teams to evaluate strategic options and inform planning.
Advance patient journey, market landscape, and stakeholder insights to inform priorities. Develop executive-ready insights that anticipate risks, highlight opportunities, and enable confident choices. 4. Advanced Analytics & Decision Translation Develop predictive models, scenario simulations, segmentation approaches, and driver analyses to answer high-value business questions.
Apply quantitative techniques to estimate demand, assess adoption drivers, and evaluate the impact of market and competitive changes. Industrialize analytical methods through scalable, governed, and reusable solutions in partnership with data science and technology teams.
Establish analytical standards, validation practices, and documentation that improve consistency, transparency, and confidence in outputs. Expand the use of automation, AI, and experimentation to accelerate delivery and increase analytical rigor. 5.
Operating Model & Capability Building Own the commercial analytics operating model for domain intake, prioritization, standards, delivery cadence, quality, and adoption. Standardize recurring work into reusable insight products, tools, and methods where scale creates value.
Clarify how the function partners with forecasting, primary market research, and technology colleagues to deliver integrated work. Improve speed, consistency, and impact through pragmatic reuse, automation, and fit-for-purpose solutions. Build a connected capability recognized by the global obesity business for judgment, reliability, and business partnership. 6.
Team Leadership & Talent Development Build, develop, and lead a high-performing India-based team of analytics professionals. Create an environment of analytical excellence, accountability, curiosity, continuous learning, and ownership. Coach future leaders by expanding their commercial judgment, technical depth, strategic thinking, executive communication, and ability to influence across a global organization.

Basic Qualifications Doctorate degree OR Master's degree OR Bachelor's degree and 18+ years of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in Business, Analytics, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Data Science, Life Sciences, Public Health, or a related field.
Substantial experience in commercial analytics, strategic insights, consulting, or related functions within pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, healthcare, or life sciences. Depth across product/brand strategy, launch analytics, sales force effectiveness, HCP/account analytics, payer/pricing analysis, commercial measurement, and executive insight translation.
Experience supporting U.S. or global launches and growth assets in competitive, rapidly evolving therapeutic categories, ideally with high access and execution complexity. Strong understanding of U.S. pharmaceutical commercialization, selling models, field execution, stakeholder prioritization, and healthcare ecosystem dynamics.
Knowledge of U.S. healthcare data ecosystems used for commercial decision-making, including sales, field activity, promotional engagement, claims, payer/pricing, and access-related data. Proven ability to translate complex analysis into recommendations that influence senior stakeholders and action planning.
Experience partnering with technology, data science, and data engineering teams to develop scalable analytics products. Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, strategic thinking, and ability to balance practical delivery with high-quality analytical standards in a global environment. .
