Lead Test Design & Planning Consultant
About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Data Science Consultant to join our expanding Marketing Science Team within Consumer Banking & Lending (CBL). In this role, you will consult on, design, and implement statistically robust testing strategies that drive marketing customer growth, engagement, and campaign performance.
You will partner with stakeholders to continuously optimize testing approaches and improve efficiency across marketing initiatives. Additional responsibilities of the role include forecasting financial returns, assessing key marketing levers for future optimization, and developing a learning agenda for continuous refinement of our marketing campaigns.

In This Role, You Will
- Plan: Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to plan and size marketing strategies, aligning test design with business objectives and growth opportunities.
- Test: Design, consult on, and execute statistically robust test‑and‑learn experiments that drive customer growth, engagement, and campaign performance.
- Forecast: Support the monthly forecasting process by estimating future performance using historical data, including return on marketing investment.
- Optimize: Evaluate key marketing levers to identify opportunities for optimization.
- Develop and maintain a forward‑looking learning agenda to continuously refine marketing strategies, leveraging statistical techniques and experimental design.
- Apply advanced analytics and programming to interpret data, solve complex problems, and inform business decisions.
- Lead: You will act as a key participant in large-scale planning for marketing initiatives, including those that are cross-functional with broad impact, by using advanced analytical and statistical techniques to generate actionable insights, trends, and recommendations.
- Provide guidance on data science best practices, methodologies, and tools to partners and peers.
- Lead projects and mentor teammates.
- Collaborate: Collaborate strategically with peers, partners, and mid‑ to senior‑level leaders to develop data‑driven recommendations that resolve business challenges and advance strategic goals.
- Communicate: Translate complex analyses into clear, actionable insights and recommendations for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, as a trusted advisor.
- Legal & Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to applicable legal, regulatory, and compliance standards across marketing and analytics initiatives.
- Required Qualifications: 5+ years of data science experience
- equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education Master's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics, economics
- computer science Desired Qualifications: 2+ years of experience in statistical design of experiments, analytics
- forecasting for marketing initiatives, demonstrated through work experience, training
- education Experience with analytical skills, demonstrated by experience consulting on, analyzing
- delivering insights that drive business impact, including incorporating feedback and refining analyses to improve outcomes Experience with project management skills, demonstrated by ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, communicate effectively, collaborate across teams
- adapt to changing priorities Experience with leadership skills, demonstrated by proven ability to lead and influence initiatives by guiding decision-making, identifying and escalating risks, driving solutions
- coordinating work across teams and stakeholders Experience with technical skills, demonstrated by experience with Excel, programming languages (SQL, Python, R, SAS, etc.), large datasets (data manipulation and engineering)
- data visualization tools (Excel, Tableau, Power BI, etc.) Experience with Design of Experiments / Hypothesis Testing using marketing data to inform marketing strategy decisions for that drive the business forward Job Expectations: Ability to travel 10% of the time Hybrid work schedule.
