, India Job Family Group: Research and Development Worker Type: Regular Posting Start Date: July 13, 2026 Business Unit: Finance Experience Level: Early Careers Job Description: What's the role Finance & Operations Data Science Team is tasked with delivering tangible value to business units within Shell through data-driven decision making.

This position is part of Finance & Operations Data Science team delivering advanced analytics projects for different businesses within Shell. The individual will join a growing global data science organization spanning both on/offshore. Incumbent is responsible for developing analytical models for projects collaborating with different business stakeholders & other partners and working across a range of technologies and tools.

Their initial primary focus will be the development and maintenance of marketing analytics models, specifically MMM, but there will be some variety in the use cases the candidate will be required to work on. The ideal candidate has strong background in quantitative skills (like statistics, mathematics, advanced computing, machine learning) and has applied those skills in solving real world problems across different businesses / functions, with a particular focus on marketing analytics.

The role involves close collaboration with the global marketing analytics lead to work with markets to build and maintain data science models to provide marketing insights to the business. What you will be doing Develop analytics models using specialized tools based on business problems and provide valuable marketing analytics solutions to business needs.

Identifies the right set of models and develops the right code / package to execute them Evaluates the validity of the model (both scientifically as well as from a business perspective) Support the Data Science Lead & Digital Product Owners in design and execution of analytics projects Work with Shell stakeholders and subject matter experts to complete tasks and deliverables on projects Works closely with the marketing analytics lead and with marketing and sales stakeholders in the business to ensure that models meet business needs Working collaboratively across multiple sets of stakeholders –business SMEs, Digital Product Owners, IT, Data teams, Analytics professionals, Data Engineers etc. to deliver on project deliverables and tasks.

Identify actionable insights that directly address challenges / opportunities Understanding business KPI's, frameworks and drivers for performance Use storytelling skills to articulate business insights and recommendations (based on model output) to business stakeholders through presentations Manage and drive data collection from internal databases, validation and processing with the help of Data Engineers.

What you bring Industry Experience in Oil & Gas, Downstream business, Mobility, Retail, CPG or FMCG business would be desirable. Overall 3+ years of experience in Data Science, Analytics, ML 2+ years of hands-on experience in Marketing Mix Modelling required Advanced university degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, Quantitative Finance, OR, etc.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills Good interpersonal communication skills and influencing skills & Client result oriented Good knowledge of Marketing domain, ATL/BTL marketing and clear understanding of concepts like adstock/carryover, saturation etc.

Strong experience in other areas of Marketing Analytics domain would be essential Customer / Marketing – any of: Channel Attribution Studies, Multi-touch attribution, Pricing analytics, cross-sell / up-sell, Campaign design and effectiveness testing, Geo-lift incrementality testing, Customer segmentation, Customer lifetime value, profitability analysis, Customer experience (incl. voice of customer), KPI frameworks for measuring campaigns, digital analytics (or similar use cases) Deep expertise in machine learning techniques (supervised and unsupervised) Statistics / Mathematics / Operations Research / Computer Science Statistics / Mathematics: Data Quality Analysis, Data identification, Hypothesis testing, Univariate / Multivariate Analysis, Clustering, Classification/PCA, Linear Modeling, Multiplicative Modelling (log-log, log-linear), Time Series Analysis, distribution / probability theory, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Optimization.

Advanced Machine learning techniques: Bayesian Linear Regression, Causal ML, Decision Trees, Neural Networks, Deep Learning, Support Vector Machines, Clustering, Bayesian Networks, Feature Reduction / engineering Computer Science: Functional Programming, Object Oriented Programming, System Design, SOLID Principles, Design Patterns, Version Control (Git) End-to-end MMM solution development - Gathering requirements, Data Processing, EDA, Modelling (both Short-Term & Long-Term Impact), Optimization etc.

Prior experience in building MMM models to capture both short-term and long-term impact of Marketing on Sales and Brand Equity is preferable. Deep understanding of various algorithms applicable in MMM (additive and multiplicative models, Bayesian Regression etc.) Woking knowledge of open-source MMM libraries like PyMC, Robyn, Meridian etc. is a plus.

Well versed with optimization techniques and prior experience of solving media budget optimization problems in Python/R Strong coding skills in Python is a must. Ability to develop production level codes with coding best practices.
