Senior Platform Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to join our Engineering IT organization. In this role, you will play a key part in evolving Arm’s Kubernetes platform and Hybrid Cloud infrastructure services, enhancing the developer and engineering user experience while ensuring the platform remains secure, reliable, and scalable across both public cloud and on-premises environments.
As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for running Arm's Kubernetes platform services across public and private cloud environments. You will develop and implement platform capabilities, automation, and operational tooling that improve the reliability, scalability, security, and maintainability of the platform.
Working across the full platform lifecycle, you will support cluster provisioning, upgrades, maintenance, observability, and workload enablement, ensuring Arm's engineering teams can efficiently deploy and own a diverse range of applications and compute-intensive workloads
Responsibilities
- Build, develop, and maintain Arm’s Kubernetes platform management/control pane services and workload cluster services.
- Develop and improve automation, self-service capabilities, and Infrastructure-as-Code solutions for cluster provisioning and lifecycle management.
- Operate Kubernetes clusters across public cloud and private cloud environments, including upgrades, patching, maintenance, and operational support.
- Improve platform reliability, scalability, observability, and security through engineering standards and automation.
- Support diverse workload requirements and collaborate with engineering teams to enhance platform capabilities and developer productivity.
- Solve complex platform issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term improvements.
- Contribute to platform architecture, technical roadmaps, and engineering standards.
- Required Skills and Experience: Confirmed experience building and operating large scale distributed systems and/or operating multiple large Kubernetes clusters in production environments.
- Solid understanding of Kubernetes architecture and its broader tools ecosystem, with experience in Linux administration, networking, storage, security, and end-to-end cluster lifecycle management.
- Experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and private cloud (VMware and OpenStack) infrastructure.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or similar technologies.
- Software development and automation experience using languages such as Go, Python, or similar.
- Experience with CI/CD and GitOps tooling such as Argo CD, Flux, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
- Experience with observability solutions such as Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and centralized logging platforms.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, globally distributed engineering environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills and excellent communication and collaboration skills.

- Skills and Experience: Experience handling the lifecycle of Kubernetes clusters at scale, involving system updates, patch application, ongoing servicing, and debugging across multiple cloud and on-premises environments!
- Familiarity with Cluster API, OpenShift, Rancher, or similar cluster management technologies.
- Experience contributing to open-source cloud-native projects.
- Kubernetes certifications such as CKA, CKAD, or CKS!
