The Team: Work within a team of 6 lawyers based in the London office covering the ECS and Exotics businesses.

The team forms part of the broader EMEA Equities Legal team. The role is for an Attorney in our Equity Financing legal team within the broader GBAM Equities Legal coverage, supporting the bank’s equity financing lines of business, involving structured and flow equity swaps, securities financing transactions, financed options, margin lending and corporate equity derivative transactions.

The role will also involve close coordination with lawyers overseeing the other Equities lines of business. Equities financing is a key development area for the Equities lines of business and the legal team have a close working relationship with them, advising on transaction execution, product development, platform change and regulatory and legislative change.

The successful candidate will be closely involved with work and developments in each of these areas and the role will expose the candidate to a variety of work involving interesting and complex matters, innovative platforms and high profile transactions.

The role requires the ability to rationalise and progress specific matters to a conclusion, in addition to identifying key issues in the course of assisting the lines of business and relevant support groups. The candidate should be looking to join the team to manage a diverse and complex workload with tight deadlines.

Lawyers in our team are expected to work closely with front office staff across our lines of business as well as with other support functions

Responsibilities

  • Providing legal support with respect to the structuring, negotiation and execution of equity financing transactions typically involving derivatives, LMA format margin loan and repo documentation, Assist with the establishment of
  • advise with respect to, related security and collateral arrangements and associated hedging and/or syndication transactions including third party security arrangements and bespoke margining arrangements Assisting lawyers in the broader Equities Financing group in relation to matters involving the Key Products Creation and maintenance of product templates, guidelines and legal documentation summaries Involvement in review of the ongoing regulatory development impacting relevant products and services Liaising with external counsel in various jurisdictions to obtain quality advice in relation to key product issues, developments and regulatory compliance matters Advise on development of new products, structures and platform developments Close engagement with the line of business, equivalent internal legal coverage in other regions and other key stakeholders (Compliance, Tax, Risk, Credit).
  • Engagement with industry forums and discussions, public events and external seminars in relation to developments involving the Key Products What we are looking for: Experience of investment banking (preferably markets businesses) either through private practice advisory work, secondment or in-house legal department Experience of legal advisory work on OTC derivatives
