What is the focus of the role? As a Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer, you’ll be responsible for designing, building and optimising customer communications across the lifecycle using Salesforce Marketing Cloud. You’ll bring customer journeys to life through personalised, data-driven communications—ensuring every interaction is timely, relevant and aligned to both customer experience and commercial outcomes.

Collaborating closely with Campaign Managers, Digital, Product and Data teams, you will be responsible for the technical design and execution of lifecycle communications across Email, SMS and other outbound channels. Your work will ensure our communications are built efficiently, powered by clean data, and continuously optimised to improve customer engagement and business performance.

Key Responsibilities Reporting into the Customer Communications Manager, your role as a Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer will: Own the design and build of customer journeys and campaigns in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, delivering end-to-end automation across lifecycle and campaign activity.

Develop personalised and dynamic communications , leveraging AMPscript, SQL and data extensions to enable segmentation, targeting and real-time content. Partner with Campaign Managers and stakeholders to translate campaign briefs into scalable, high-quality technical builds across channels including Email, SMS and Push.

Support lifecycle orchestration and optimisation , ensuring journeys are effectively triggered, sequenced and continuously improved through testing and performance insights. Build and maintain data models and integrations , ensuring data integrity, accuracy and accessibility across Marketing Cloud and connected systems.

Drive platform governance and best practice , including naming conventions, documentation, QA processes and compliance with privacy and regulatory requirements (e.g. TCP, ACL & Spam Act). Identify and implement improvements in automation and personalisation , leveraging new platform capabilities to enhance efficiency and customer experience.

Collaborate cross-functionally with Digital, Product and Data teams to integrate marketing automation into broader customer and digital experiences. Monitor and troubleshoot campaign performance , proactively resolving issues and optimising builds to improve delivery, engagement and conversion.

About you You are a technically strong and detail-oriented developer with a passion for building high-quality customer communications. You enjoy solving complex problems and translating business requirements into scalable marketing solutions.

You thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and are comfortable working across both technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver outcomes. Essential: 3–5+ years’ experience working with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or a similar marketing automation platform.

Proven experience building and managing automated customer journeys and campaign executions. Strong experience working with customer data, segmentation and data-driven marketing programs. Proficiency in AMPscript and SQL , with experience querying and transforming data for marketing use cases.

Strong understanding of data structures, segmentation and personalisation techniques . Experience building and optimising multi-channel CRM communications (Email, SMS, Push, etc.). Knowledge of marketing automation best practices , including testing, QA and journey orchestration.

Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly. Effective communication skills, translating technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
