Title and Summary Director, Risk Management At Mastercard, we are committed to protecting our network from being used to facilitate money laundering or terrorist financing. The AML, Sanctions and Export Compliance team actively participates in the development and implementation of a robust compliance program that is designed to meet our regulatory obligations and ensure that internal and external constituents understand and respect the importance of their responsibilities with regard to this function. The focus of the Services team is to offer data-driven capabilities that help customers make smarter decisions with better outcomes. These include analytics, insights, consulting, loyalty, marketing, innovation and security solutions. They enhance the value of payments, improve business performance and elevate consumer engagement for financial institutions, retail and commerce firms, processors, acquirers, fintechs, neo-banks and public-sector institutions. The Manager Risk Management & Compliance role will support Risk Management & Compliance functions across Services & Data with specific accountability to operationalize the day-to-day Anti-Money Laundering, Sanctions and Export Controls requirements for Services businesses. Role
  • Supports Commerce Media initiative by partnering with project leaders to design and implement fit for purpose compliance controls aligned to business and product needs.
  • Designs standardized compliance processes for the broader Customer Acquisition & Engagement program, supports remediation activities, and partners with CA&E stakeholders to operationalize controls.
  • Partners with key stakeholders across Services to actively manage compliance related activities in partnership with MA Compliance functions
  • Identify gaps in existing ongoing monitoring processes and lead development of enhanced monitoring practices
  • Develop relationships and work cross functionally to identify, assess, and mitigate potential AML, Sanctions and Export Controls risks
  • Perform customer identification, verification, and monitoring procedures on new and existing customers to ensure adherence to Mastercard AML, Sanctions and Export Controls requirements
  • Provide support during the customer and/or product lifecycle to evaluate potential risk associated with new or enhanced product offerings.
  • Work with key business teams to develop solutions for meeting customer business needs and advancing Mastercard strategic initiatives while minimizing potential compliance risk to Mastercard and other network participants
  • Manage compliance features of the Servives product suite. Work with regional and global product teams to identify short term enhancements and define the long-term strategy for compliance capabilities in the platform.
  • Create and deliver engaging educational sessions designed to reinforce Mastercard’s AML and Sanctions Compliance principles throughout the evolution of the business
  • Provide input to AML and Sanctions Program Risk Assessments to account for activity within Services businesses
  • Establish and maintain AML, Sanctions and Export Compliance Program tracking and metrics to identify trends and establish action items for program preservation and enhancements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Must have experience managing a regulatory compliance program
  • Intermediate skills with BSA/AML compliance program requirements
  • Knowledge of banking/financial operations, transaction processing and/or payments-related industry experience is preferred
  • Sound judgment with ability to build rapport at all levels, and in all business units; proven ability to persuade and drive results
  • Proven ability to work independently or as a team player and function effectively in a dynamic, fast paced environment while handling multiple projects and consistently meeting deadlines
  • Superior attention to detail, problem-solving, organization and written/verbal communication skills
