The Opportunity Aviva is seeking an Assistant Vice President to lead the Alberta Auto Street Pricing Team .
The successful candidate will be key enabler in our Alberta strategy responsible for driving profitable growth across all distribution channels, including Broker and Partnerships. We are looking for someone with a strategic mentality who can work with partners and lead the pricing team to make phenomenal data-driven decisions for the business.
The successful candidate will have extensive pricing experience and the ability to work with non-pricing partners to advance pricing and segmentation to drive sustained profitable growth. This role is perfect for someone who is driven, analytical, results-oriented and wants to leave their mark on the organization.
In the role, the leader is encouraged to bring different perspectives to the table to understand tradeoffs and make informed decisions. You will be responsible for a team of 9 actuaries and are expected to create a supportive and engaging environment to bring out the best in staff.

What you’ll do: Responsible for actuarial methods, pricing strategies, segmentation, and overall profitability of the Personal Auto business in Alberta.
Build out the Street Pricing capability to adopt and expedite the existing tools to deliver optimized pricing decisions driving desired profitability and growth objectives Lead, coache and mentor a team of 9 actuarial and statistical professionals to build a high-performing team.
Provide mentorship and knowledge to the development of actuarial methods and assumptions. Develop solid relationships with key partners including Data Science, Underwriting, Segment Leads, and Distribution. Work with Data Science to review and implement new enhanced pricing and segmentation models.
Maintain a substantial risk and control environment while balancing the need for pace and agility. Oversee the segmentation outcomes for the Personal Auto business and work on proactive strategies to improve the results. What you’ll bring: 10 years of P&C actuarial experience including pricing and modeling.
Previous management experience. Good proven understanding of the Alberta market. Ability to build strong relationships with the Alberta Insurance Rate Board. Ability to negotiate and influence. Strong understanding of price optimization concepts including consumer behaviour implications on demand pricing.
Technical solid capabilities with excellent insurance business knowledge. University degree in mathematics or actuarial sciences.
