Job Title: Senior Logistician, SME Travel: Local * * * The Opportunity: The Senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Logistics & Strategic Advisor serves as the principal logistics advisor and senior thought leader supporting SOCPAC, mission partners, and program leadership across the Indo-Pacific theater.
The SME provides strategic guidance, operational logistics expertise, and executive-level advisory support for logistics planning, reception, staging, onward movement and integration (RSOI), Joint Theater Distribution Center (JTDC) operations, supply chain management, expeditionary sustainment, contested logistics, and theater distribution architecture.
The position functions as the senior logistics strategist for Task 2 and advises Government leadership on logistics posture, operational risk, campaign sustainment, theater access, partner nation integration, and the development of innovative logistics solutions supporting distributed and expeditionary operations.
The SME works across all task areas to ensure logistics considerations are integrated into operational planning, facilities planning, mission enabling services, and emergent operations
Responsibilities
- Strategic Advisory Support Serve as the principal logistics and sustainment advisor to Government leadership, SOCPAC planners
- mission partners on theater logistics strategy, operational sustainment
- logistics readiness across the Indo-Pacific.
- Provide executive-level recommendations regarding contested logistics, operational risk mitigation, logistics posture optimization, and sustainment support for distributed operations.
- Advise Government stakeholders on logistics implications associated with theater campaign plans, contingency operations, crisis response activities, exercises, and emerging operational requirements.
- Support senior leader decision-making through operational assessments, courses of action (COA) development, logistics estimates, and sustainment feasibility analysis.
- Theater Logistics Planning Provide subject matter expertise supporting logistics planning activities associated with operational plans (OPLANs), contingency plans (CONPLANs), theater campaign plans, and joint exercises.
- Advise logistics planners on theater access, distribution pathways, partner nation integration, sustainment synchronization, and logistics command-and-control architectures.
- Support development of logistics concepts supporting expeditionary basing, distributed operations, and resilient sustainment networks.
- Recommend alternative sourcing, transportation, and sustainment approaches for operations conducted in permissive, contested, degraded, and denied environments.
- Supply Chain Management & Provisioning Advise Government leadership and personnel on supply chain strategy, provisioning methodologies, inventory optimization, and sustainment planning.
- Evaluate logistics architectures supporting demand forecasting, supply planning, inventory management, and end-to-end asset visibility.
- Recommend innovative logistics technologies including predictive analytics, additive manufacturing, digital logistics platforms, sensor-enabled asset visibility, and virtual maintenance capabilities.
- Support development of resilient supply chain networks utilizing military, commercial, partner nation, and non-standard logistics capabilities.
- JTDC and Distribution Operations Provide strategic guidance regarding Joint Theater Distribution Center operations, theater distribution networks, retrograde operations, redistribution activities
- asset accountability processes.
- Advise on theater distribution architecture supporting reception, staging, onward movement, integration, and sustainment requirements.
- Support optimization of multimodal transportation networks including air, maritime, and ground logistics operations.
- Evaluate distribution risks and recommend mitigation strategies that improve responsiveness, survivability, and operational reach.
- Expeditionary and Contested Logistics Provide expertise supporting logistics operations in austere, contested, degraded, and denied operational environments.
- Advise on Cross-Continuum Logistics Pathways (CCLP), non-standard logistics solutions, partner nation logistics integration, and commercial logistics alternatives.
- Support development of resilient sustainment concepts capable of maintaining operational effectiveness despite disruptions to traditional military supply chains.
- Assess logistics vulnerabilities and provide recommendations that enhance survivability and mission assurance.
- Program Support and Leadership Provide senior mentorship and technical leadership to logistics personnel supporting Task Orders.
- Participate in technical reviews, program management reviews, logistics assessments, and Government working groups.
- Support capture, transition, surge operations, and emergent operational planning efforts as required.
- Serve as a senior representative for logistics-related discussions with Government customers, mission partners, and industry stakeholders
Qualifications
- Required: Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Military Science, National Security Studies, or related field.
- Minimum fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible experience supporting military logistics, operational sustainment, strategic planning, deployment and distribution operations, or defense logistics programs.
- Demonstrated experience advising senior military leaders, Combatant Commands, TSOCs, Joint Task Forces, or Special Operations organizations.
- Extensive knowledge of joint logistics planning processes, theater sustainment operations, deployment and distribution systems, and logistics command-and-control structures.
- Experience supporting operational planning activities including OPLANs, CONPLANs, Theater Campaign Plans, and contingency operations.
- Experience supporting logistics operations in geographically dispersed, expeditionary, or contested operational environments.
- Strong analytical, communication, briefing, and executive advisory skills.
- Desired: Master's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, National Security Studies, Engineering, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- Prior experience supporting SOCPAC, USSOCOM, INDOPACOM, SOCEUR, SOCCENT, USASOC, or other Special Operations organizations.
- Experience supporting Joint Theater Distribution Centers (JTDCs), RSOI operations, APS operations, theater distribution planning, or contested logistics initiatives.
- Experience with predictive logistics, digital engineering, digital logistics platforms, additive manufacturing, supply chain analytics, or logistics innovation initiatives.
- Former military officer, senior NCO, GS civilian, or defense contractor supporting operational logistics and sustainment functions.
