Role Profile & Purpose The Operations Transformation AI Automation Product Manager is accountable for leading the Markets Operations AI Transformation “Automated Checks” (Check Centre) workstream. The role combines product ownership, operational transformation, and delivery leadership to drive the automation of manual controls, checks, and reconciliations across Markets Operations.
A critical component of the role is the end-to-end ownership of technical enablement dependencies. The individual will be responsible for proactively driving these prerequisites to unblock delivery and ensure the automation pipeline progresses at pace.
In parallel, the role will establish and lead a Sri Lanka-based Automation Engineering Team, ensuring structured delivery, clear prioritisation, and consistent throughput aligned to programme objectives. Key Responsibilities Automation Delivery Leadership - Own end-to-end delivery of the Automated Checks Team within Markets Operations AI Transformation. - Define and maintain the automation roadmap aligned to operational risk reduction and programme milestones.
Platform Enablement, Access & Network Management - Act as the primary owner for securing access to production systems, data sources, and applications required for automation. - Work closely with Networks, Security, and Engineering teams to raise, track, and expedite; system access requests, firewall rule changes and approvals, connectivity enablement and data access provisioning - Proactively chase, unblock, and escalate delayed access or network dependencies impacting delivery timelines.
Opportunity Identification & Solution Design - Partner with Operations Managers and Process SMEs to identify, document, and assess manual operational checks. - Translate business processes into structured automation opportunities and scalable solutions. - Identify new control checks to strengthen operational resilience and reduce risk exposure.
Prioritisation & Pipeline Management - Establish and implement a prioritisation framework to sequence automation delivery based on risk, value, and feasibility. - Maintain a well-defined and actively managed backlog of automation use cases.
Automation Team Leadership - Build, lead, and manage a team of automation engineers with clear accountability for delivery. - Allocate work effectively to ensure optimal utilisation and sustained delivery throughput. Agile Delivery - Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, and velocity tracking. - Ensure consistent delivery cadence and high-quality output from the automation team.
Risk Governance - Ensure all automation solutions meet operational risk, control, and governance standards. - Own documentation for process changes, control design, and operational risk assessments. Stakeholder Management & Reporting - Provide clear, structured updates on scope, delivery progress, risks, and blockers to Programme Management and senior stakeholders.
Additional Responsibilities - Establish structured processes and tooling for tracking access requests, firewall approvals, and system onboarding status. - Drive standardisation of onboarding processes to reduce friction in future automation scaling. - Contribute to the development of the Markets Operations automation and AI operating model. - Build strong relationships with Engineering, Networks, and Security teams to improve responsiveness and collaboration. - Support recruitment, onboarding, and capability development of the Sri Lanka automation team.
Candidate Background - Proven experience in operations transformation, automation delivery, or product management within financial services or complex operational environments. - Demonstrable experience working with technology infrastructure, access management, and network/security teams. - Strong understanding of system access processes, firewall governance, and production change controls. - Experience delivering automation solutions (e.g.
RPA, low-code platforms, workflow tools, AI-driven automation). - Track record of managing cross-functional dependencies and unblocking delivery issues in complex environments. - Experience leading offshore teams. Key Behaviours and Skills - Highly proactive in chasing, escalating, and resolving access, network, and infrastructure blockers. - Strong organisational discipline with the ability to track multiple dependencies and maintain delivery momentum. - Takes full accountability for outcomes, particularly in navigating complex governance and technical barriers. - Confident working with Engineering, Networks, and Security teams to prioritise and accelerate requests. - Able to structure complex operational and technical problems into clear, actionable plans. - Provides concise, transparent updates with a strong focus on risks, blockers, and mitigation actions. - Builds high-performing teams with clear expectations, ownership, and delivery discipline.
