  • Amazon Robotics is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer to join our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team in Westborough, MA. You will oversee the transition of complex self goverend robotic systems from design to production, applying Design for Excellence (DfX) principles across a global supply chain. The Amazon Robotics (AR) Operations organization manufactures high-quality robotics and gets the right materials to the right place at the right time to enable our automated solutions. This role will report to the Head of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering. You will be responsible for applying DfX principles to influence product designs and transition a wide range of self governed robotic solutions from design to production. You will work cross-functionally to develop suppliers, manage product lifecycle changes, oversee manufacturing readiness assessments, and drive technical root cause for supplier defects. The successful candidate will be capable of making wide-ranging business selections on behalf of the organization and willing to "roll up sleeves and do what needs to get done" to consistently deliver results. Key job responsibilities - Provide Design for Excellence (DfX) guidance and feedback on electromechanical designs at concept and detailed design phases. - Guide best practices on manufacturing tolerances using GD&T. - Launch tooling with accelerated schedules. Assess project risk and drive mitigation plans. - Review external production processes, identify risk, and mitigate. - Qualify production processes based on dimensional data, control plans, and process capability (Cpk) requirements. - Drive internal and external PFMEA and DFMEA reviews. - Solve technical problems across a broad set of manufacturing commodities (mechanical and electrical). - Guide manufacturing readiness assessments (MRL) for NPI programs through production ramp. - Evaluate and approve Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) across mechanical and electrical commodities, assessing manufacturing, supply chain, and cost impacts. - Evaluate production, supplier, and field failures for root cause analysis and resolution using 8D, 5-Why, and Fishbone methodologies. - Mentor team members and design engineers on producibility best practices. - Propose design changes that will enhance product sustainability and scalability. - Shepherd Statistical Process Control (SPC) implementation at suppliers
  • conduct Gauge R&R and process capability studies. - Up to 30% travel required. A day in the life As a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer on the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team, you'll start your day reviewing engineering change requests and providing impact assessments that keep our product lifecycle moving. You might spend mid-morning in a design review with hardware engineers — flagging tolerance stack-up risks, recommending material or process alternatives, and driving cost-out opportunities. After lunch, you could be guiding a PFMEA session with a key supplier, or examining SPC data to qualify a new production tool. You'll collaborate daily with cross-functional stakeholders across Hardware Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Program Management, and you'll see the direct impact of your work as designs move from prototype to high-volume global production. About the team Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) is Amazon Robotics' scalability engine — bridging innovation with execution. We integrate Design for Excellence principles early in the engineering process to accelerate product development and ensure globally scalable robotic solutions. Our team owns DfX leadership, supplier process qualification, manufacturing readiness assessments, and engineering change evaluation across the product lifecycle. We work cross-functionally with Hardware Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality to transform concepts into production-ready systems that deploy reliably at scale.
  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures - Bachelor's degree or above in Industrial, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or other related discipline - 8+ years of including new product introduction (NPI) experience - Experience developing and executing test procedures for mechanical or electrical systems/components based on design intent and approved equipment submissions - Broad manufacturing commodity background (Mechanical and Electrical). - Familiarity with industry standard tools for problem solving and risk management.
  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production - Master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration or a related field - Deep commodity experience with one or more of the following: DC Gearmotors/encoders
  • Plastics (primarily injection molding)
  • Metals (Stamping, Machining)
  • Printed Circuit Board Assemblies, Sensors, Cameras

Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
