New College Grad - Supply Chain Planner
Top focus
Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all . Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.
As a Supply Chain Planner at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for orchestrating the supply chain to common objectives for the products assigned to you. Much of your time will be spent proactively handling supply fill rate (to demand and inventory) on your products through various analytics of our ERP tool and sophisticated planning systems.
Based on your own findings or un-planned events, you will collaborate with internal and external partners across the globe and own the value chain to the objectives required on your product line. You must have proficient skills related to interpreting data and developing conclusions to sophisticated problems.
This will make you successful on planning responsibilities. You must also have strong interpersonal skills and leadership abilities as these are vital in resolving many of the problems you find to meet the defined objectives. You will use and develop Tableau reports, and examine our Supply Plan Optimization (SPO) tool to troubleshoot supply/demand mismatches.
Additionally, you will deploy Science of Supply Chain techniques to ensure inventory, customer service, and organizational objectives are balanced. This balance accounts for the varied conditions of the semiconductor business. You will also be encouraged to develop an understanding of the supply chain you plan for and other related processes.
Examples of these areas are demand management, S&OP, silicon planning, inventory management, factory loading, manufacturing sites, logistics, fulfillment, and customer requirements. The knowledge you develop here will assist you in solving many problems and will enable your career progression
Responsibilities
- Revenue, Demand, and Supply Alignment: Position supply and inventory to meet revenue plans by assessing supply constraints and drive actions to resolve them.
- Apply Science of Supply Chain concepts such as constraint-based planning, scenario modeling, trade-off analysis, and demand-supply balancing to generate feasible supply responses.
- Communicate risks, upside opportunities, and qualitative inputs to optimize demand-supply alignment within business constraints.
- Customer Commitments, Service Level and Fill Rate Management: Project supply accurately to support customer commitments and ensure efficient delivery performance.
- Use fill rate analytics, service level modeling, variability analysis, and supply response logic to maintain fill rate metrics and guide replenishment strategies across the planning horizon.
- Inventory and Mix Optimization - Handle inventory to target levels by maintaining wafer and downstream inventory health.
- Apply inventory theory, safety stock modeling, postponement strategy, die mix optimization, and Theory of Constraints principles to balance inventory, service, manufacturing feasibility, and business priorities.
- Cross-Functional Communication and Partner Engagement: Ensure effective communication and knowledge transfer with Manufacturing, Sales, Engineering, Global Quality, Marketing, and customers.
- Serve as a key contact for supply-related questions from Sales and BU leadership.
- Ensure partner adherence to contracts, aligned trade-offs, and role accountability.
- Coordinate business practices and process improvements across partner organizations.
- Revenue Planning and Manufacturing Guidance: Publish supply responses for customer demand, sales orders, factory plans, material plans, die mix plans, and inventory replenishment strategies.
- Apply constraint-based planning, linear optimization, capacity trade-off analysis, and scenario simulation to support Quarterly Sales Plan and weekly revenue adjustments.
- Guide Manufacturing on sales priorities, requirement changes, risks, and cross-product trade-offs.
- Analytics, Planning Systems, and Supply Chain Science: Use Tableau and other tools to identify supply-demand mismatches, clarify actions, and communicate insights.
- Apply optimization engines, manufacturing process knowledge, database querying, data analysis, visualization, Excel macros and programming skills to recommend adjustments to priorities, objective functions, inventory buffers, postponement locations, and build strategies.
- Translate sophisticated planning problems into analytical models for root-cause diagnosis, sensitivity analysis, trade-off evaluation, and data-driven decisions
