- The Team You'll Work With
- You'll be joining our Carta Law team, specifically within the Contracts - APAC function.
- Our Contracts team manages the full lifecycle of commercial contracts for clients – from first
- review through to execution. You'll be the direct day-to-day contact for sophisticated
- investment fund and asset manager clients, working alongside fellow lawyers and paralegals.
- This team delivers high volumes of pre-M&A contract work at speed, supported by AI-
- backed tools including Carta's proprietary platform, Ava.

- opportunities of tomorrow. As a Freelance Consultant on the Contracts team, you'll work to:
- Negotiate and manage high volumes of pre-M&A contracts – including NDAs,
- confidentiality agreements, NRLs, joinders, and engagement letters – directly liaising
- with counterparties and adhering to agreed turnaround times
- Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for clients, building trusted advisor
- relationships with sophisticated investment funds and asset managers
- Maintain and update client playbooks on an ongoing basis, ensuring consistency and
- quality across all contract negotiations
- Collaborate with and mentor junior lawyers and paralegals, reviewing their work and
- contributing to a high-performing team culture
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Carta's legal technology suite,
- identifying ways to innovate using AI-backed tools
- About You
- About You
- Commercially minded and client-focused. You communicate legal advice crisply
- and concisely, building strong relationships with sophisticated financial services
- clients.
- Experienced in transactional law. 6-8+ PQE, with a track record of independently
- negotiating pre-M&A contracts (NDAs, NRLs, joinders, engagement letters).
- Familiar with financial services. You have experience working with asset managers,
- investment banks, or other financial services firms and understand their expectations.
- Law Degree and licensed to practice. You are licensed to practice law in any APAC
- Jurisdiction
- Must be based in APAC time zone, due to our client service needs
- Tech-savvy and adaptable. You are comfortable working with and evolving a legal
- technology suite (e.g. AI tools, HighQ), and an interest in legal tech or AI is a strong
- plus.
- A self-starter who owns their work. You thrive in a fast-paced environment,
- prioritize effectively, and are always looking for ways to improve and innovate.
- Compensation
- Compensation for the role will be paid on a fixed per-document basis, details of which will
- be discussed during the first screening call with our Talent Team
