The pay range is $168,000.00 - $303,000.00 Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. About The Role

As a Director of Quantitative UX Research and AI Enablement, you’ll lead Target’s enterprise UX quantitative research strategy, experience measurement, and responsible AI-enabled research. This leader will set the strategy for the function, guide the team’s day-to-day work, and lead major initiatives and core programs that advance Target’s goals.

You’ll shape how Target learns through UX metrics, benchmarking, longitudinal voice-of-the-user programs, user panels, survey research, experimentation, and behavioral analysis, translating those insights into product and business decisions.

You’ll also partner with internal teams and vendors to bring these programs to life using the right tools and platforms. Success for this leader requires strong partnership with UX, product, technology, analytics, business, and insight partners to establish direction, align on priorities, and build trust in the work.

You’ll set responsible AI guidance and standards so research is structured, reusable, discoverable, and ready to support AI-enabled workflows, including agents and synthetic users. As an experienced people leader, you will coach and develop a team of five researchers supporting priority product areas through embedded partnership, quantitative research, and early-stage human-centered design, while strengthening rigor, speed, and impact

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy, standards
  • maturity for quantitative UX research, experience measurement
  • AI enablement across Target’s digital ecosystem Oversee programs such as UX metrics, benchmarking, survey research, user panels
  • longitudinal tracking Establish rigorous and scalable approaches for survey design, sampling, analysis, reporting
  • synthesis Partner with cross-functional leaders and insight teams to connect research, experimentation, product analytics
  • business priorities to roadmaps and outcomes Define how Target uses AI agents and synthetic users in research

  • About you: 10+ years of experience in UX research, quantitative research, applied research
  • a related field with a strong understanding of human-centered design and digital product development Deep expertise in quantitative methods such as survey design, sampling, measurement, benchmarking, statistical analysis
  • longitudinal tracking Experience leading enterprise-scale measurement programs and influencing decisions with data Strong understanding of how quantitative research connects with qualitative research, experimentation, behavioral data, product analytics
  • business performance Experience shaping research standards, governance, tooling, repositories
  • other scalable research capabilities Demonstrated understanding of how AI can responsibly support UX research, including opportunities, risks, governance needs
  • implications for quality Ability to make research more structured, discoverable, reusable
  • AI-ready while maintaining human judgment, context, ethics
  • rigor Proactively identify and resolve issues that may impair the team from meeting strategic, business
  • financial goals Strong data-driven visual, verbal
  • written story-telling skills with ability to bring partners along 5+ years of people leadership experience with demonstrated success hiring, coaching
  • developing high-performing, cross- geography or remote teams Experience working in large, matrixed organizations a plus This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid (known internally at Target as "Flex for Your Day") work arrangement based on Target's needs.
  • A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at a Target location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.
  • A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role may be performed either remote or onsite at a Target location depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
