Job Title: Engineering Product Team Leader Salary: £57,000 + depending on experience Location: Wimborne Benefits: · 25 days annual leave, · Up to 12% Bonus · Contributory pension scheme - Caterpillar will double the employee's contribution Up to 10% · Contributory share scheme - Caterpillar will match 50% of the employee's contribution. · Optional flexible benefits including access to health and dental care plans, EV car lease, holiday purchase.
About Us Caterpillar Marine Power UK Ltd is located on the outskirts of Wimborne on the Ferndown and Uddens Business Improvement District. Positioned centrally along the south coast, it is located close to national and international transport links.
With approximately 130 members of staff, there is a long and distinguished history spanning over 50 years of manufacturing marine propulsion and auxiliary engines under the Cat® and Perkins Marine® brands. Genset packages ranging from 1.5 Litre to 7.1 Litre and 7.1 Litre propulsion engines are produced at the Wimborne site.
The facility employs a wealth of hugely experienced designers, engineers and technicians used to providing solutions for commercial, pleasure, and military customers. From the design, testing and building, each engine is proven before leaving the premises to ensure the best performance for the end-user.
The Opportunity We are looking for a driven and experienced Engineering Product Team Leader to lead key marine product development programmes and play an integral role within our global engineering network. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives on leading complex engineering projects , influencing cross-functional teams, and delivering innovative product solutions from concept through to production.
What You’ll Be Doing Project & Programme Leadership Lead multiple, complex engineering projects across marine engine and genset product lines Own delivery of projects across scope, cost, risk and timescales Apply structured project management tools and processes Cross-Functional Collaboration Coordinate resources across engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and product teams Work closely with global stakeholders on product development initiatives Ensure smooth communication across all project interfaces Performance & Governance Track project progress, budgets, and risks Lead project reviews and provide clear updates to stakeholders Proactively identify and resolve issues to maintain delivery momentum Team Leadership Lead, motivate and develop project team members Facilitate effective team meetings and decision-making forums Create a positive, high-performance team environment Technical Contribution Support design and validation teams across the full product lifecycle ( NTI, NPI, CPI ) Contribute to solving complex engineering challenges Provide technical insight to support product development decisions Ensure adherence to international compliance standards Manage DFMEA and project reviews What We’re Looking For Qualifications Degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience) Experience & Skills Proven track record leading engineering or product development projects Strong understanding of project management methodologies Experience working across design, manufacturing, and supply chain environments Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and influence decision-making Technical Capability Experience supporting product design, validation, and development Strong problem-solving skills with a structured approach Leadership & Communication Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills Ability to lead teams within a matrix organisation Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels What You Will Get We look forward to welcoming the successful candidate to our dynamic, diverse and friendly team.
