Function: The DoT for Core Data leads teams that build and enable some of our most core data and business logic systems, powering Target’s retail operations for merchandising, supply chain, our digital experiences, stores, and finance.

The key goals of this function will be to build and operate our Business Partner Products (Vendor Capabilities) technology systems. We have over 100K vendor users around the globe, from 80+ countries, and 25+ partner types. Vendor data powers over 150+ downstream products, processes and support teams.

There are a multitude of ops and support teams across the enterprise that work with vendors. Our systems enable vendors to quickly, easily, and confidently do business with Target systems, we maximize the value of the vendor eco-system for Target.

The DoT supports a global team primarily based out of India

Responsibilities

  • Lead a world-class global team to sustainably build and operate our engineered products to meet business and technology objectives.
  • Build and communicate a technology vision Vendor Eco System Reduce technical debt and engineer supportable coexistence approaches that minimize overall risk and impact to partners and connected systems.
  • Design and drive architecture advancement to improve response times at scale.
  • Enhance auditability and observability of engineered systems to improve supportability and incident response.
  • Deliver business features and capabilities that support key Target strategic initiatives and priorities include supply chain network expansion, merchandising modernization, digital profitability
  • enterprise risk management.
  • Develop and execute a talent strategy that balances experience, diversity, growth, and sustainability of the team.
  • Create team norms and routines that embrace Target’s cultural values of growth, connection, and drive.
  • Model behaviours that express personal commitment to Target’s cultural aspiration.
  • Lead the team through enterprise change including future of work transition, return to office, and new operating and interaction models.
  • Foster partnership and collaborative relationships with key partners such as product, business, and technology infrastructure.
  • Drive Core Data and Enterprise level initiatives around talent, culture, engagement, change management etc Reporting: Location: Target in India, Bangalore Travel: Up to 15% of the time, including to Target Technology Centre in Minneapolis, MN Reports to: VP, Engineering - Bangalore Direct Reports: Software Engineering Managers, principle engineers Organization: Lead an engineering organization ~ 30 engineers Other Working Relationships: Develop and sustain a collaborative partnership with internal and external stakeholders, including product, business partners, technology partners, and executive leadership Requirements: BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience 15+ years of related experience
  • 5+ years of experience software engineering or reliability engineering and 5+ years in leadership roles Experience at strategizing, implementing new technologies and building engineering capabilities in workplace environment Ability to build and operate high scale, enterprise critical services and systems leveraging a micro-services based architecture Have played roles that leveraged skills in engineering, technology operations, architecture, strategy, and talent management.
  • Experience leading teams through complex organization and technology change Experience building and leading Agile teams that have adopted modern CI/CD practices and have hosted workloads in the external or private cloud environments Experience in managing global teams Excellent written and verbal communication skills for communicating effectively at the highest levels of management Experience managing budgets, expense/capital planning
