The Senior Accountant will perform a variety of accounting activities in accordance with accounting principles and standards to control the organization's financial resources and ensure that it complies with all relevant regulations, laws, and reporting requirements.

The role requires an in-depth understanding of accounting and operational aspects of the finance and accounting systems. What You’ll Work On Execute timely and accurate financial activities in support of business partners. Responsible for assigned month-end closing activities, including, journal entry preparation, approval, account analysis, intercompany transfers and account reconciliations.

Provide guidance and support for master data requests, accounting compliance and reporting to business partners. Responsible for preparation of annual federal and state tax packages. Ensure compliance with SOX, internal controls, Abbott Corporate and division/department specific policies and procedures Provide support for internal and external audits Maintain Standard Operating Procedures for assigned activities Operate independently, be flexible in changing environment and challenge the status quo.

Support all Company initiatives and ad-hoc requests as identified by management. Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration 5+ years progressively responsible Accounting experience Experience with large ERP system; SAP preferred Strong Microsoft skills, including use of pivot tables, vlookups and analysis of data using Excel Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.

Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred. Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment. Requires knowledge of accounting regulations of operational accounting issues.

Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects. Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization. Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.

Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
