Piping Material Engineer
Title: Piping Material Engineer KBR’s Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) group is looking for Piping Stress Engineers to support the design and delivery of critical offshore oil & gas, LNG, and process platform projects worldwide. The role focuses on advanced detailed engineering activities for piping systems across WHP, fixed platforms, FPSO, and LNG facilities.
We are seeking an experienced Piping Stress Engineer with strong capabilities in performing detailed stress analysis to ensure all potential loading conditions on piping systems are thoroughly evaluated and addressed within the design framework.
The role requires detailed engineering expertise, interdisciplinary coordination, and the use of industry-standard tools to ensure piping systems comply with safety, performance, and regulatory requirements
Responsibilities
- Perform piping stress analysis and flexibility calculations under various operating and load conditions Provide inputs to plant layout and coordinate load data with other disciplines Develop piping mechanical specifications and carry out special engineering studies Prepare calculations, drawings
- datasheets for special piping (SP) items Develop requisition documentation for SP items and pipe supports Design and develop pipe support systems, including support locations and drawings Perform advanced analysis such as fatigue, blast
- FPSO structural considerations (hog and sag) Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, codes
- project specifications Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for effective engineering execution Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent 4 years related experience, with average experience ranging from 6-10 years. (WHP, fixed platforms, FPSO, LNG) Strong proficiency in Caesar II for piping flexibility analysis Experience in pipe support selection, design
- special support development Knowledge of Navisworks / model review tools Strong understanding of fatigue, blast
- structural interaction in piping systems Experience in offshore project execution and multi-location team environments Good communication and coordination skills Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of AIV (Acoustic Induced Vibration) and FIV (Flow Induced Vibration) Experience in PML macro development Experience working on Shell DEP, Qatar Petroleum (QP)
