- Amazon Web Services is the world's most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform
- behind every click, stream
- transaction is a global network of data centers that must continuously expand to meet customer demand. Critical Projects Implementation (CPI) is the team responsible for delivering infrastructure capacity improvements inside live, operational data centers—work that directly enables AWS to scale and serve millions of customers worldwide. We are seeking a Program Manager to develop standardized Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for data center infrastructure projects across the Americas region. You will partner with DCEO Principal Engineers, site Chief Engineers
- regional stakeholders to create technical procedures that meet the highest standards for safety, accuracy
- reliability. Your work will establish Standard Work pathway that reduces approval timelines by 85%, accelerating critical capacity delivery. You will define MOP requirements, coordinate engineering reviews, manage the approval workflow
- build a reusable library of standardized procedures that eliminates redundant planning effort across AMER sites. The ideal candidate combines technical knowledge of data center electrical systems with strong technical writing ability and a track record of driving alignment across cross-functional teams. You thrive in ambiguity, bring an entrepreneurial mindset
- understand that precision in documentation directly translates to safety and reliability in execution. Key job responsibilities Developing standardized MOPs for critical infrastructure projects including electrical switchgear, UPS, generator
- power distribution work in live data center environments Partnering with DCEO Principal Engineers and site Chief Engineers to ensure procedures meet engineering standards and gain approval through the Standard Work pathway Managing the MOP lifecycle from requirements definition through DCEO review, approval
- site deployment across AMER Building frameworks, templates
- processes that enable CPI Project Managers to develop and reuse standardized procedures independently Making tradeoffs that balance business urgency with technical constraints, safety
- quality A day in the life No two days look exactly the same, but every day centers on one mission: building the standardized technical procedures that enable AWS to deliver data center capacity safely and at speed. You might start your morning reviewing feedback from a DCEO Principal Engineer on a draft MOP for a busway extension project—incorporating technical corrections and ensuring the procedure aligns with site-specific electrical one-line diagrams. By mid-morning, you're working with a CPI Project Manager who needs a standardized MOP adapted for an upcoming UPS maintenance window, walking through the procedure to confirm it accounts for their site's configuration. After lunch, you're leading a cross-functional review with a site Chief Engineer, an MCM Bar Raiser
- a Controls Engineer to gain Tier 1 Standard Work approval on a generator paralleling procedure. You present the technical rationale, address questions about safety interlocks
- negotiate a revision that satisfies teams. That approval means this MOP can now be deployed across 12 AMER sites without repeating the full review cycle. Later, you're updating your MOP development roadmap: prioritizing which procedures to standardize next based on upcoming project schedules, tracking status across the development lifecycle
- flagging potential bottlenecks. You close the day by drafting requirements for a new circuit verification MOP that three different clusters have requested. Your internal stakeholders include: DCEO Principal Engineers, site Chief Engineers
- MCM Bar Raisers CPI Project Managers (end users of your standardized MOPs across AMER) CPI Area Managers and program leadership Controls Engineers and Policy team Problems you'll be solving: Eliminating redundant effort where multiple PMs write different versions of the same procedure for the same project type Reducing approval bottlenecks that delay capacity delivery by weeks Bridging the gap between DCEO engineering standards and field execution needs Ensuring safety and quality are never sacrificed for speed in a live operational environment About the team *Why AWS* Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform.
