DevOps Engineer
Top focus
ROLE SUMMARY: We are hiring a DevOps Engineer to own the delivery pipeline and operational automation for LSEG's internal observability platform - a high-ownership role with direct impact on how the platform gets built and delivered! The platform is initially deployed in Azure but is developed to be hosting-agnostic and portable.
Future deployments may include other cloud providers or on-premises environments, and the delivery and infrastructure patterns must support that flexibility from the beginning. The focus of this role is making sure every component of the platform can be deployed, scaled, updated, and rolled back in a controlled and repeatable way - regardless of where it runs.
This means owning CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, GitOps workflows, and container operations, and working closely with the Lead Engineer and SRE team to support both engineering velocity and operational stability. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: CI/CD and delivery pipeline: - Develop, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for all platform components, covering testing, validation, infrastructure provisioning, and deployment. - Implement and evolve GitOps workflows, including branching strategy, environment promotion, approval gates, and rollback patterns. - Supervise the health and performance of the delivery pipeline itself, using the observability platform where possible. - Evaluate and introduce tooling improvements that increase deployment safety, pipeline reliability, and developer experience.
Infrastructure and operations: - Manage infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, including module design, remote state management, environment separation, and secrets handling. - Operate container and orchestration infrastructure using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm, including stateful workloads such as ClickHouse and Redis. - Manage secrets securely across pipelines and environments, ensuring credentials are never stored in version control or state files. - Develop delivery and infrastructure patterns that work with Azure as the primary environment and remain portable to other cloud providers or on-premises deployments.
Collaboration and improvement: - Partner with the Lead Engineer on infrastructure build decisions and with the SRE team on operational runbooks and recovery procedures. - Maintain clear documentation for deployment processes, environment configuration, and onboarding guides for new engineers.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING: Essential skills and experience: - Experience crafting and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with ownership of the full pipeline from commit to production. - Infrastructure-as-code with Terraform, including module design, state management, secrets handling, and environment separation. - Experience with GitOps practices, including pull-request-driven deployments, environment promotion, and version-controlled configuration. - Container and orchestration experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm, including stateful workloads. - Secrets management experience using tools such as HashiCorp Vault, Azure Key Vault, or equivalent. - Experience with cloud infrastructure, with the ability to compose patterns that remain portable across providers or to on-premises environments. - Ability to communicate clearly with engineering and SRE teams about pipeline design, deployment state, and operational risk.
Desirable skills and experience: - Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services, including compute, networking, storage, and identity and access management. - Experience with on-premises Kubernetes deployments or hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure patterns. - Experience with other cloud providers such as AWS or GCP, particularly where multi-cloud or provider-agnostic patterns were required. - Familiarity with OpenTelemetry, Grafana, ClickHouse, or Cribl from a deployment or operational perspective. - Experience instrumenting CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure with observability tooling. - Experience in a regulated, financial services, or large enterprise technology environment.
WHAT YOU'LL GET IN RETURN: A central role in how a strategic observability platform gets built, shipped, and operated across a global enterprise - with the chance to use the platform you help build to supervise the pipeline itself! We are committed to building an inclusive workplace where people from all backgrounds can grow and do meaningful work.
