The Amazon Web Services Professional Services (ProServe) team is seeking an experienced Senior Delivery Consultant — Mainframe Modernisation to join our team. In this role, you'll work closely with enterprise customers to assess, design
deliver mainframe migration and modernisation solutions on AWS. You'll be a key player in driving customer success through complex legacy transformation journeys, providing deep technical expertise in mainframe technologies and modern cloud-native architectures throughout the project lifecycle. Possessing a strong understanding of mainframe platforms (z/OS, COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, IMS) alongside AWS products and services, you will be proficient in architecting modernisation pathways — whether replatforming, refactoring
re-engineering — tailored to meet the specific needs of each customer. You'll work closely with stakeholders to assess existing mainframe estates, evaluate application portfolios
propose effective modernisation strategies that reduce technical debt, lower operational cost
accelerate innovation on AWS. As a trusted advisor to our customers, you will provide guidance on mainframe-to-cloud migration patterns, emerging technologies such as agentic AI and generative AI for code transformation
industry-proven modernisation approaches. You will be responsible for leading the implementation process, ensuring adherence to best practices, optimising performance, managing risk
enabling customer teams to operate independently post-migration. The AWS Professional Services organisation is a global team of experts that help customers realise their desired business outcomes when using the AWS Cloud. We work together with customer teams and the AWS Partner Network (APN) to execute enterprise cloud computing initiatives. industries. Key job responsibilities Key job responsibilities As an experienced mainframe modernisation professional, you will be responsible for: -Leading the assessment and discovery of customer mainframe estates, including application portfolio analysis, dependency mapping
modernisation readiness evaluation -Designing and implementing modernisation solutions on AWS — including replatforming, refactoring to cloud-native services
automated code transformation approaches -Providing deep technical guidance on mainframe technologies (COBOL, PL/I, JCL, CICS, IMS, DB2, VSAM) and their AWS equivalents throughout project delivery -Collaborating with customer architects, development teams
business stakeholders to define migration waves, prioritise workloads
manage cutover risk -Acting as a trusted advisor to customers on mainframe modernisation trends, including AI-assisted code transformation, automated testing strategies
incremental migration patterns -Sharing knowledge within the organisation through mentoring, training
creating reusable artifacts such as modernisation playbooks, assessment frameworks

5+ years of working with Enterprise Application Modernization and Migration technologies, including, but not limited to, Mainframe, Serverless, Containers
Cloud Operations experience - 7+ years of experience working with mainframe technologies (z/OS, COBOL, PL/I, JCL, CICS, IMS, DB2, VSAM) - 3+ years of experience with AWS or equivalent cloud platform, particularly migration-related services (e.g., AWS Mainframe Modernization, DMS, SCT, Step Functions, Lambda) - Experience with mainframe modernisation patterns: replatforming (Micro Focus, Rocket), refactoring to cloud-native
automated code transformation - Experience with database migration from mainframe systems (DB2, IMS, VSAM) to cloud-native databases (RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB)
7+ years of mainframe and legacy systems experience - 5+ years of experience leading or delivering application modernisation, legacy migration
large-scale platform transformation programs - 3+ years of experience with AWS services relevant to migration and modernisation - Experience migrating mainframe data stores to cloud-native databases or data lakes - 5+ years of external customer-facing consulting or delivery experience on complex, multi-stakeholder transformation programs - Experience with application portfolio assessment, dependency mapping
workload disposition (rehost, refactor, replatform) - Exposure to AI-assisted code analysis, code transformation
