Senior Pigment Analyst
About us We are champions of rail, inspired to build a greener, more sustainable future of travel. Trainline enables millions of travellers to find and book the best value tickets across carriers, fares, and journey options through our highly rated mobile app, website, and B2B partner channels.
Great journeys start with Trainline π Now Europeβs number 1 downloaded rail app, with over 135 million monthly visits and Β£6.3 billion in annual ticket sales, we collaborate with 270+ rail and coach companies in over 40 countries. We want to create a world where travel is as simple, seamless, eco-friendly and affordable as it should be.
Today, we're a FTSE 250 company driven by our incredible team of over 1,000 Trainliners from 50+ nationalities, based across London, Paris, Barcelona, Milan, Edinburgh and Madrid. With our focus on growth in the UK and Europe, now is the perfect time to join us on this high-speed journey.
Introducing the Trainline Finance Team π The FP&A team sits at the heart of Trainline's financial intelligence, translating complex business dynamics - booking volumes, yield trends, marketing spend efficiency, product economics, and partner commercial terms - into clear financial narratives and actionable insight.
We partner closely across the business to help leaders understand performance, plan for growth, and make smarter decisions. We are in the middle of a meaningful finance transformation, and Pigment is central to it. We are building the in-house capability to own our FP&A platform end-to-end, automating reporting, enabling self-service for business partners, and freeing our analysts to focus on insight rather than production.
Reporting to the Head of FP&A, this role is the foundation of that ambition - and it's an exciting moment to join. You will be supported by Pigment's Premium Success Plan, giving you structured coaching and expert oversight as you grow into full ownership of the platform.
In this role as the Senior Pigment Analyst, you will... π Own the Pigment FP&A platform as Trainline's named internal expert, taking responsibility for model architecture, governance, version control, and day-to-day platform maintenance, acting as the first point of contact for all platform-related questions.
Build and maintain Pigment models that support the full planning and reporting cycle, including annual budget, rolling forecast, monthly close commentary, MBR/QBR packs, and ad-hoc commercial analysis. Automate reporting workflows currently built manually in Excel or PowerPoint, improving efficiency and creating capacity for higher-value analysis across the Finance team.
Design intuitive self-service tools that allow Commercial Finance business partners to run scenario analysis and variant requests independently, without routing through central FP&A. Stay current with Pigment's feature roadmap - including the Modeler Agent and AI-assisted build capabilities - proactively identifying where new functionality can accelerate delivery and leading the testing and rollout of these features.
Partner with Data and Engineering teams to ensure clean, reliable data flows into Pigment, keeping the platform well-integrated with Trainline's broader data infrastructure. Communicate clearly with non-technical Finance stakeholders, explaining how models work, setting expectations on delivery timelines, and translating complex platform concepts into language that resonates.
Document and continuously improve model governance standards - including change control, testing protocols, data validation, and audit trails - to ensure the platform remains reliable, auditable, and resilient. We'd love to hear from you if you have... π Hands-on experience with Pigment, Anaplan, Adaptive Insights, or a comparable EPM or planning platform, with a track record of building models rather than simply using them.
Direct Pigment experience is a welcome plus, but we are happy to consider strong candidates from any comparable EPM tool, with platform-specific training provided. Strong technical systems skills, including working confidently with data structures, formula logic, dimension hierarchies, and model architecture.
The ability to translate business requirements into platform solutions - asking the right questions, identifying what is genuinely needed, and delivering something that works for the people using it. Clear, confident communication skills, with the ability to explain complex platform concepts to non-technical stakeholders and manage competing priorities calmly and collaboratively.
A methodical, detail-oriented approach to your work, with a commitment to maintaining governance standards and documenting in a way that others can follow. Ideally, some FP&A or commercial finance experience - whether in a finance team or as a systems consultant embedded in one - along with an understanding of how budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting cycles work in practice.
Helpful if you have experience automating reporting workflows, or some familiarity with data integration and ETL concepts such as connecting planning platforms to upstream data sources like Snowflake or dbt. You may also bring experience from a high-growth technology business, marketplace, or consumer-facing environment, which would be a great addition to the team.
