About the role We are looking for an experienced HR Adviser to join our People Experience team at Boyne Smelter in Gladstone. This role provides frontline HR support to leaders and employees, with a strong focus on employee relations, case management, policy guidance, leader coaching and consistent delivery of global processes.

This is a great opportunity for a resilient, pragmatic and relationship-focused HR generalist to work across a wide range of people matters in a fast-paced, high-volume operational environment. You will partner closely with leaders to build capability and contribute to a safe, inclusive and high-performing workplace.

This is a parental leave cover fixed term contract opportunity until October 2027, based in Gladstone, with a 9-day fortnight roster. Reporting to the HR Team Lead and working as part of a close-knit and supportive team, you will be: Providing practical HR advice and support to leaders and employees across operational client groups Managing employee relations matters, including absenteeism, conduct, performance, workplace investigations and policy-related concerns Coaching leaders to apply HR policies, processes and systems consistently and confidently Partnering with HR Business Partners, HR Officers and specialist teams to resolve matters and escalate where appropriate Supporting recurring people processes, including performance, salary and talent reviews Identifying opportunities to strengthen HR processes, leader capability, employee engagement and workplace effectiveness with a continue improvement mindset About you You enjoy working with people, building capability and helping teams navigate workplace challenges.

You bring curiosity, sound judgement and a collaborative approach, along with the ability to influence, coach and support through day-to-day operations, change and complexity. You will bring: A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team Experience in a generalist HR advisory role, ideally within an operational, industrial, resources, manufacturing or similar environment Strong employee relations and case management experience, including the ability to manage matters objectively, sensitively and with sound judgement Confidence coaching, influencing and constructively challenging leaders while maintaining trusted stakeholder relationships Resilience and adaptability to work across a broad scope of HR matters in a fast-paced, high-volume operational environment Strong written documentation, confidentiality and case-management discipline, with the ability to navigate HR systems such as Workday, ServiceNow, SAP or similar platforms If you are excited about the role and think you have what it takes, but your experience does not align with every requirement, we still want to hear from you.

Located approximately 20km south east of Gladstone at Boyne Island on the Central Queensland coast, BSL produces around 500,000 tonnes of aluminium per annum. Activities at BSL include manufacturing carbon anodes in the carbon plant, aluminium production (smelting) in reduction lines, and casting of molten material into aluminium products ready to ship.

The smelter is connected via a conveyor belt to the Queensland Alumina Limited refinery for the supply of alumina. BSL is committed to protecting the environment and ensuring safe work practices where people feel safe at work and care for each other.
