ABOUT THIS ROLE The Audible Books Content Acquisition Team owns the full cycle business relationships with the authors, writers, content creators, literary agents and recognized IP brands that serve as Audible’s top global creators in the literary space. In this role you’ll generate, negotiate
- close a high volume of new deals and deal renewals for audio original and book-based audio content with prospective and current top partners, at terms that benefit Audible customers. You’ll have responsibility for acquired content, ensure successful post-signing go to market planning across the relevant teams at Audible and Amazon
- contribute to defining strategic development affecting Audible’s overall growth and success. As the Manager, Audible Books Content Acquisition EU, you will... - Manage EU rights management initiatives, deals and contracts administration including renewals and amendments - Conduct periodic business reviews of existing content licenses to identify renewal opportunities and optimize terms - Collaborate with Finance and Operations to track metrics and maintain accurate records - Scout and evaluate acquisition opportunities across literary agencies, independent and self-published authors and content creators in EU marketplaces - Assess incoming submissions using performance data, industry trends, genre analysis
- internal analytics to identify high-potential titles - Maintain deep knowledge of EU publishing landscapes - emerging voices, trending genres, competitive activity - and represent Audible at industry events and book fairs - Structure, negotiate
- close audio rights agreements for both Audible Books (licensed titles) and Audible Originals (commissioned content) with authors, agents, publishers
- rights holders - Manage full-cycle deal flow: from opportunity identification and internal business case development through contract execution - Prepare deal approval materials including financial projections, P&L analysis, comparables
- strategic rationale - Independently manage and prioritize a high-volume pipeline of simultaneous deals across multiple EU territories - Develop and maintain strategic relationships with literary agencies, authors
- rights holders, with dedicated focus on priority EU marketplaces as required - Serve as a trusted point of contact for partners, representing Audible's content vision and commercial proposition - Grow Audible's reputation and visibility within the EU publishing community - Partner with Editorial, Marketing, PR, Finance, BI, Legal and Production teams to ensure successful go-to-market planning for acquired content - Monitor post-acquisition content performance to inform future strategy and identify patterns in successful titles ABOUT AUDIBLE Audible is the leading producer and provider of audio storytelling. - Professional experience and proven success in a book publishing, literary agency, content licensing, media rights, business development
- digital media department/company - Experience negotiating complex agreements with a solid understanding of legal and contractual terminology - Experience in both traditional publishing and digital content ecosystems - Experience with contract management, data analysis
- productivity tools - Business fluency in English and either Italian or French. Proficiency in additional European languages is a strong asset. - Established network in the French and/or Italian book publishing industry, particularly with authors and literary agencies
- Broader network in the international book publishing industry and experience working across multiple EU marketplaces simultaneously - Experience in the audio space, directly acquiring or selling audio rights and familiarity with audiobook production workflows - Resourceful self-starter with an independent attitude and focus on excellence - Genuine enthusiasm for audio storytelling, books
