About The Role
The 3PL Operations Manager is responsible for leading Diageo Australia’s end-to-end transportation and 3PL warehousing agenda, ensuring finished goods move safely, efficiently and on time across the national network. This role oversees transport execution, warehouse partner performance, customer delivery service, cost control and operational governance across Huntingwood, Bundaberg, the National Distribution Centre, Regional Distribution Centres and third-party logistics partners.
Collaborating with logistics, customer service, planning, procurement, finance, and external providers, you will take on a meaningful role. You will help deliver strong service, supplier performance, and cost control and promote continuous improvement across the transport network.
Role Responsibilities: Lead national transport and 3PL warehousing operations across customer deliveries, inter-warehouse transfers, reverse logistics and carrier execution, ensuring service, safety and delivery performance across the network.
Manage transport providers and 3PL warehouse partners against agreed contracts, SLAs and targets, driving strong supplier governance, performance reviews and corrective actions where required. Oversee transport execution at Huntingwood, including truck bookings, dock scheduling, carrier coordination, driver check-in processes and transport documentation.
Own transport cost control and budget performance, including spend tracking, invoice validation, rate management, accrual support and identification of productivity and cost-saving opportunities. Protect customer service and delivery compliance by managing OTIF performance, proof of delivery, retailer requirements and claims resolution across shortages, damages, returns and delivery issues.
Ensure transport activities operate in line with Chain of Responsibility, safety, compliance and transport risk requirements, while strengthening business continuity and operational controls. Drive continuous improvement across transport planning, provider performance, claims reduction, digital visibility, network efficiency and CHEP pallet management to improve service, cost and operational performance.
Experience / Skills Required: Extensive experience in transport, logistics, warehousing or 3PL operations within FMCG, consumer goods, manufacturing, retail or other fast-paced supply chain environments. Strong experience managing transport providers, 3PL warehouse partners, SLAs, critical metrics, and supplier performance across complex distribution networks.
Solid understanding of transport operations, customer delivery requirements, claims management, cost control and service performance in a national logistics environment. Knowledge of Chain of Responsibility, transport safety, compliance and risk management requirements within the Australian market.
Strong commercial and analytical capability, with experience managing budgets, freight spend, rate cards, invoice validation and identifying productivity opportunities. Proven ability to work cross-functionally with logistics, customer service, planning, finance, procurement and external providers to solve issues and improve performance.
Strong stakeholder management, problem-solving and continuous improvement skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive outcomes in a dynamic operational environment.
