- Retail Business Services (RBS) supports Amazon’s Retail business growth WW through three core tasks. These are (a) Selection, where RBS sources, creates and enrich ASINs to drive GMS growth
- (b) Defect Elimination: where RBS resolves inbound supply chain defects and develops root cause fixes to improve free cash flow and (c) supports operational process for WW Retail teams. Our team of high caliber software developers, applied scientists, data engineers, product managers and Business Intelligence Engineers use rigorous ML and deep learning approaches to ensure that we identify & fix the right catalog defect to ensure the good shopping experience for our customers. As a BI Manager You directly manage a BI/DE team with existing systems (e.g., Redshift database, Data Lakes, Andes tables, Cradle, EMR processing) and defined strategy and deliver BI solutions for difficult problems efforts, and decisions. As the manager, you are accountable for the customer experience, project prioritization, data/solution quality, and system maintenance. You are also accountable for the experience of the employees that report to you. You set the example for our Leadership Principles. You take the time to understand the larger picture (i.e., customer needs, business opportunities, and problems to be solved) and share that knowledge. You partner with your manager, stakeholders, and customers (e.g., analysts, scientists, TPMs, etc.) to clarify your team’s mission, vision, and priorities. You help your team see how their work aligns with the organizational goals. You seek long-term, strategic guidance from your manager. Key job responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and delivery of BI and intermediate DE solutions for complex and ambiguous problems
- Take ownership of BI and data infrastructure and provide system-wide design guidance
- Drive BI/DE engineering best practices and set standards for operational excellence
- Perform complex business analysis and provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership
- Design and implement technical solutions with appropriate analytics strategy and data set design
- Lead large projects that require work of multiple team members, dividing work effectively
- Mentor and develop other BIEs, L4 Des providing technical assessments for DE II, BIE II and BIE III promotions
- Build consensus and resolve contentious technical issues across teams
- Influence organizational BI architecture and cross-team data strategies
- Communicate findings and strategic insights to management audiences Basic qualifications - 7+ years of business intelligence and analytics experience - 5+ years of delivering results managing a business intelligence or analytics team, including employee development and performance management experience - Experience with SQL and Pyspark - Experience with ETL, Big data technology, Redshift - Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight
- similar tools - Experience with R, Python, Weka, SAS, Matlab or other statistical/machine learning software Preferred qualifications - 7+ years of working with very large data warehousing environment experience - 10+ years of data warehouse technical architectures, data modeling, infrastructure components, ETL/ ELT and reporting/analytic tools and environments, data structures and hands-on SQL coding experience - Experience with EMR is an add on Key job responsibilities In this role, you have the opportunity to: - Implement data ingestion routines both real time and batch using best practices in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes by leveraging AWS technologies and big data tools. - Design, implement and operate large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data for analysis and data science. - Gather business and functional requirements and translate these requirements into robust, scalable, operable solutions with a flexible and adaptable data architecture. - Help continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service modeling and production support for customers.
