Amazon's Transportation Operations Management team is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented analyst to support the execution of labor planning programs and technical initiatives at scale. As a Business Analyst I for Mid to Long Term Planning within the Transportation Operations Management Organization, you will support the end-to-end execution of headcount planning and labor forecasting for 400+ transportation sites. You will work closely with planning leads and cross-functional partners to maintain and update forecasting models that inform headcount targets, trainer utilization planning, and staffing decisions across the network. This role requires you to identify data quality issues, flag forecast deviations, and support analytical solutions that improve planning accuracy and reduce manual effort. You will support the planning cycle cadence (OP1, OP2, QxG) by preparing data inputs for headcount forecasts, validating model outputs against established thresholds, conducting variance analysis against actuals, and maintaining the data infrastructure that underpins labor planning decisions. You will contribute to trainer utilization forecasting by updating and maintaining models that project training capacity needs based on hiring plans, attrition signals, and new site launch timelines. You will also support ad hoc data pulls and modeling requests for the Mid-Long Term Planning team, including sensitivity analyses, scenario comparisons, and data exploration that informs planning strategy. You will maintain documentation and standard operating procedures for recurring analytical processes, ensuring consistency and scalability as the team grows. This role partners cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, Recruiting, and HR to gather inputs, validate assumptions, and support the communication of planning outputs. This role requires solid communication skills, including the ability to write clearly and present findings to your direct manager and immediate team. You will participate in the preparation of metrics, analyses, and recommendations for cross-functional reviews, operating with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. You will follow established escalation paths when issues arise and seek guidance in ambiguous situations to ensure alignment with team priorities. Key job responsibilities Support labor forecasting workflows end-to-end by identifying data quality issues and process inefficiencies, and implementing solutions with guidance from senior team members that reduce manual effort and improve forecast accuracy. Build, maintain, and update Python and Alteryx models for headcount forecasting, trainer utilization, and ad hoc planning analyses
- support automation efforts that streamline recurring analytical processes under the direction of planning leads. Analyze data across multiple domains (Operations, Finance, Recruiting, HR) to surface insights, identify trends, and prepare recommendations that support planning team strategy and decision-making. Partner with product and engineering teams to test and validate tool features, document business requirements, and support forecasting model integration into planning workflows as directed. Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, Recruiting, and HR to source data inputs, validate assumptions, and ensure alignment on planning outputs for each cycle. Develop and maintain KPI reporting and dashboards for the labor planning program, providing visibility into forecast accuracy, headcount plan adherence, and trainer capacity utilization. Work with data owners to identify and resolve data quality issues, validate new data sources, and ensure accuracy and consistency of planning inputs across forecasting models. Identify process or methodology gaps in recurring workflows and support resolution through documentation, automation, or escalation to appropriate owners.
