We are seeking a Software Development Manager to lead a data engineering team within the Customer Experience Infrastructure (CXI) organization. This leader will build and scale big data platforms, manage engineers building data pipelines and data lakes
drive the technical vision for the team's data infrastructure. You hire and grow the Data Engineers, Business Intelligence Engineers
Software Development Engineers that build this vision. The ideal candidate brings strong engineering depth in distributed data systems combined with proven people management skills to grow and develop a multi-discipline engineering team. You'll be joining a team that's at the forefront of infrastructure innovation, working on greenfield projects with significant business impact
building solutions that directly enable Amazon's operations teams to move faster and more efficiently. Key job responsibilities - Own the technical vision and architecture for the team's data platforms, pipelines
data lakes - Drive design reviews, establish engineering standards
ensure production-grade quality across all systems - Ensure operational excellence — on-call health, incident response, SLA adherence
system reliability - Manage and grow a team of DEs, BIEs
SDEs across career levels - Foster a culture of engineering excellence, ownership

3+ years of engineering team management experience - 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience - 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification
livesite operations - Experience partnering with product or program management teams - Experience with big data technologies such as AWS, Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive etc. - Experience managing engineers across multiple disciplines (DE, BIE, and/or SDE)
Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams
senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs
product strategy - Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills
make them more effective, product software engineers - Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics
a related field - Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda
