The role with us The Senior Social Media Content Creator will lead the creation of high‑impact, platform‑native social content that drives engagement and delivers business outcomes across Telstra’s digital channels. The role drives creative excellence, content strategy and performance‑led optimisation, ensuring social activity is relevant, insight‑driven and aligned to brand and campaign objectives.
The role can execute across all social channels at a high level, though vertical video production is where your strongest work comes from. You'll set the standard for quality and creative output, Important note: while our preference is for this role to be based in Melbourne, VIC or Sydney, NSW , we welcome applications from candidates across Australia .

You’ll bring a deep understanding of social media mechanics, algorithms, formats, creators and distribution tactics, and use that knowledge to craft content that captures audiences and delivers business outcomes. In this role, you’ll be responsible for: Drive creative excellence in short-form vertical video production across Telstra’s in-house social media team through hands-on coaching and shared learnings Lead and shape social media content strategies that vary in scope, from reactive opportunities to integrated, cross-functional campaigns Consult with internal and external stakeholders to provide strategic counsel and advise on channel best practice Own influencer and creator relationships, from talent discovery and outreach to briefing, concepting and iterating ideas Own the end-to-end channel delivery strategy, from platform selection and audience targeting through to performance analysis and optimisation Use insights derived from social media listening tools and advertising platforms to identify content opportunities, evaluate performance and guide future activity Tools to track performance, surface insights and feed recommendations back to the team About You To be successful in the role, you'll bring skills and experience in: Broad experience in social media content creation, ideally working in a large brand's in-house team or at a social-first agency Industry-leading vertical video production skills with editing capabilities across a range of desktop and mobile-only tools (Adobe Premier Pro, CapCut, and others) Proven ability to work across functions and influence without authority – you're comfortable presenting ideas to senior stakeholders and bringing teams along on a creative vision Excellent project management and organisational skills to handle a high-volume, multi-platform content load Strong editorial judgement – you’ll know how to approach a brief or content opportunity, knowing what formats will work best to bring a message or idea to life A trend-leader not a trend-follower.
You have a strong enough point of view to know when to ride a moment and when to forge your own path Self-directed and comfortable navigating ambiguity in a fast-moving, complex environment Experience using Meta and TikTok Ads Manager to execute sophisticated paid social campaigns Competent navigating social media listening tools to measure performance and discover insights (Meltwater or similar) As part of the application process, please include/attach examples of work you have personally created or contributed to (i.e., these can be hyperlinks) together with your resume.
