Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the VP, Global Supply Chain
  • part of the larger Pharmaceutical Development and Manufacturing organization (PDM), the Director, Supply Chain Master Data Management will lead a team of Supply Chain Data Professionals that support PDM’s governance and stewardship for Materials and Planning related data objects.
  • This role will align workflows and support the manufacturing and planning teams and work closely with the Global Process leads on development of data standards.
  • Focus Areas: Develops a Global Supply Chain data strategy, roadmap, policies, procedures and an operational framework to meet organizational and regulatory priorities Accountable for cross-functional collaboration with Commercial, Finance, Clinical and PDM functions including Regulatory Affairs, Laboratory Information Systems, and QA.
  • Ensure roadmap and activities align to Pharmaceutical Development and Manufacturing (PDM) vision and strategy.
  • Uses data a key lever to align value chain processes and performance around a common and reliable dataset, enabling agile and robust supply chains and uninterrupted supply.
  • Lead the function for high performance.

  • Ensures continuous development and optimization of data governance practices for consistent, secure and synchronized data availability throughout our business functions in accordance with all enterprise and regulatory policies Works to decrease the costs of collecting, managing, and sharing data while increasing the value of data Right size department resourcing while making effective use of external business partners

  • Design, recruit, staff and lead an organization which will: Design, develop and execute PDM data standards for materials and network planning Build a culture and a system of continuous improvement across the E2E Supply Chain
  • driving consistency and harmonization in the data standards that are established.
  • Partner with data owners from across the business to enhance and build the capabilities required to sustain and accelerate the improved use of SAP.
  • Have ability to lead large programs – establishing critical milestones, partnering with extended teams on meeting timelines and objectives, holding teams and individuals across the enterprise accountable for program delivery.
  • Process and Systems and execution: Ensure SOPs are in place to ensure uninterrupted supply, plan do check act process (PDCA) in place for continuous improvement, following quality management system.
  • Accountable for service level agreements for where this teams provides a service, i.e. data standards and turnaround times as applicable.
  • Support the business by identifying streamlined ways to manage data, and become an advocate of Master Data Governance across PDM Influence organizational design for teams that are impacted by MDM/PLM workflow.
  • Knowledge: Able to develop complex concepts, techniques, and standards.
  • Able to develop solutions to complex problems which require an in depth degree of ingenuity, creativity and innovativeness.

  • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the financial aspects of Supply Chain operations.
  • Specific Education & Experience Requirements: 12+ years of relevant experience in related field and a BS or BA; or 10+ years of relevant experience and an MA/MBA.
  • Specific Job Responsibilities: Manages the planning, development, implementation, administration and budgeting of the production planning, purchasing, material control, inventory control and shipping/receiving functions.
  • Provides department management with the coordination of activities and resolution of issues and potential problems related to production planning, procurement
  • material management, making or recommending appropriate decisions consistent with strategic direction.
  • Implements and maintains material control systems, policies, processes and procedures ensuring that a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements.
  • Ensures that personnel, equipment, material and services are provided as needed to maintain acceptable inventory levels.
  • Coordinates interdepartmental activity with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Engineering and Contract Administration.
  • Provides expertise and guidance in establishment and maintenance of the production control system.
  • May serve as liaison between the company and the various governmental agencies.
  • Directly interfaces with regulatory agencies as required.

  • Develops new applications for the department, based on professional principles and theories.
  • May negotiate major contracts involving large financial amounts.

  • The salary range for this position is: Bay Area: $210,375.00 - $272,250.00.
  • Other US Locations: $191,250.00 - $247,500.00.
  • Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
  • These considerations mean actual compensation will vary.
  • This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
