Job Title: Senior Paralegal - Housing and Civil Enforcement Section Travel: Local * * * The Opportunity: CACI is seeking a Senior Paralegal to provide litigation support services to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Civil Rights Division, Housing and Civil Enforcement Section (HCE).

The Housing and Civil Enforcement Section enforces federal civil rights laws involving housing discrimination, lending discrimination, and other discriminatory practices that affect access to housing and related services. HCE investigates and litigates matters involving fair housing, fair lending, and other civil rights violations on behalf of the United States

Responsibilities

  • The Senior Paralegal will work fully onsite in Washington D.C. to support DOJ attorneys and litigation teams.
  • The position requires strong litigation support experience, document review expertise, and familiarity with electronic discovery platforms, including Relativity and RelativityOne (RelOne).
  • Works under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal and provides support to multiple attorneys.
  • Typical assignments may include, but are not limited to: Develops litigation support work products with minimal direct supervision while following established guidelines and procedures.
  • Performs moderately complex legal research using applicable legal research tools and resources.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and summarizes transcripts of hearings, depositions, and oral arguments for attorney use.
  • Reviews case-related materials and identifies potentially conflicting statements, factual issues, or areas requiring additional investigation.
  • Prepares preliminary drafts of legal memoranda, correspondence, summaries, and other litigation-related documents.
  • Conducts document review using Relativity and/or RelativityOne (RelOne).
  • Supports electronic discovery activities, including document review, coding, quality control, and production preparation.
  • Assists with generating document productions and managing litigation support workflows.
  • Provides onsite and offsite trial support, including preparation of exhibits, case materials, and attorney resources.
  • P osition will support the HCE Hotline by serving as the initial point of contact for callers, conducting phone intake, documenting call details in the appropriate forms, maintaining accurate records, tracking follow-up activities
  • ensuring timely communication with callers.
  • This role requires strong communication, active listening, attention to detail, and customer service skills to accurately collect and manage information from each interaction

Qualifications

  • Required: Paralegal certificate, Juris Doctorate, current enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school with completion of at least one year of study, or equivalent legal training and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of litigation paralegal experience or related legal project experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience supporting automated litigation support or electronic discovery projects.
  • Demonstrated experience using Relativity and/or RelativityOne (RelOne) for document review and litigation support.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and litigation processes.
  • Experience using legal research tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw.
  • Hands-on experience with computer applications, including word processing, databases, document management systems, spreadsheets, imaging systems, and related technology.
  • Experience with ESI tools and knowledge of electronic discovery procedures and best practices.
  • Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Desired: Experience supporting Department of Justice, federal government, or government contractor litigation support environments.
  • Experience supporting civil rights, housing, or complex litigation matters.
  • Trial support experience.

  • Pay Range: This posting is for a position covered by the Service Contract Labor Standards (SCA).
  • The pay and benefits provided for this position will meet or exceed the minimum required amounts detailed in the wage determination issued by the Department of Labor and made applicable to this position, as incorporated into CACI’s government contract for the work location.
  • Minimum Required Hourly Wage: $31.69 There are a host of other factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographical location, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
