About the role We are looking for a Paralegal, Disputes – APAC , to support Rio Tinto Legal’s Disputes team providing litigation, arbitration, investigations, contentious regulatory matters and other material disputes. Organised regionally, the team works as a single global practice supporting our legal teams across the Group wherever specialist disputes expertise is required.

We are looking for someone who is able to build collaborative working relationships within an international organisation, follow through on tasks with enthusiasm and support the disputes team to think two steps ahead as we support the organisation through complex situations.
Reporting to the Senior Corporate Counsel, Disputes – APAC and working in a global team advising on significant and complex legal matters, you will be: Supporting the management of disputes, litigation, investigations and regulatory matters by preparing, reviewing and organising legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, witness materials, presentations and case files, while coordinating matter administration and maintaining accurate records.
Coordinating and supporting document preservation, identification, collection, review and production activities for discovery, disclosure, subpoenas, regulatory notices and other legal processes, including legal holds and document review workflows.
Coordinating legal reporting and governance activities, including dispute reporting, matter status updates, board papers, risk reporting, legal metrics, compliance reporting and preparation of governance materials. Liaising with external counsel, service providers and internal stakeholders to facilitate instructions, coordinate information requests, monitor matter progress and support effective management of legal spend and matter budgets.
Participating in continuous improvement initiatives, including legal technology adoption, enhancement of dispute management processes, maintenance of precedents and knowledge resources, and development of best practice across the legal function.
Undertaking legal and factual research, preparing summaries, coordinating meetings and case materials, tracking actions and providing administrative support to support the efficient management of legal matters. About you A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. At least 3 years’ experience as a paralegal or legal assistant in a law firm or in-house environment. Proficiency with relevant technology platforms, including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and related applications.
Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage time-critical and sensitive work while following established procedures. Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with the willingness and curiosity to work collaboratively with colleagues around the world.
